I'm not going to get My lights hot to back in cold water. I let My brakes cool after a long haul so My brgs don't suck water in when i launch. But I live in Louisiana. :lolhit:

#11 I thought this was like a boat show............ you kick your shoes off to get "on" a boat.....when you get "off" the boat you put back on a better pair....I'm waiting for that MTI out there!

Nope..............it was the middle of the day....at a mostly dirt ramp....on a almost desert island.....why the hell would you have your lights on? Oh yea....to let everyone else know.............."I have my lights on!"

JnT 05-03-2012 07:22 PM

Never heard of it in GA either. My wife can back a boat trailer way better than me. She has patience and I don't. :)

patyacht 05-03-2012 07:23 PM

OK, time to post up the guy. He was just trying to take advantage........ total BS.

FogduckerIII 05-03-2012 07:34 PM

I realize things are far more civilized there in the US but here on the West Coast of Canada, that tactic would get you a $hit kicking.......:nhl_fight:;)

PS. Mods, why is there no Canadian "flag" in the icons/smilies..?

DirtyMoney 05-03-2012 07:51 PM

JnT beat me to no in Georgia and I have seen weird stuff at the ramp.

f_inscreenname 05-03-2012 10:04 PM

Maybe it's one of those new EPA laws?

blefever 05-03-2012 11:44 PM

State check in tally so far

Wow, great response from a lot of states, OSO should be proud to have such a wide user base. Also some very funny comments, and my wife feels pretty good about the support. Thanks.

Patyacht. Don't know who the guy is, but we're getting closer to what state he might live in. We've had 28 states check in so far, plus Canada and DC. All "Never heard of that" except Keith Atlanta in Florida who thought it might be a fishing boat thing, but others from Florida said "Never heard of that", so I'm going with a no from Florida.

So......we still need to hear from, Alabama, Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Main, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Montana, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Vermont and Wyoming.

Thanks again for the responses.

ozarkdevil 05-04-2012 12:28 AM

Add Iowa to list

I agree. He realized he f*cked up so he made something up quick.

Ive seen some near fist fights at the ramp. It sure would make a good show if they could get some people out there with video cameras to different ramps.

Velocity72 05-04-2012 08:18 AM

He got caught trying to butt in line....

Add South Carolina to the list.

Wildman_grafix 05-04-2012 09:11 AM

My wife and I have been known to go to boat ramps to "watch the boats come in".

Lol

The ramps here aren't as fun as the Midwest, most here are gentle slopes,,,,,,, in the Midwest most are very steep. I could sit with a cooler and be entertained all day long.

blefever 05-04-2012 09:17 AM

two more "never heard of that"

Iowa and South Carolina out, thanks guys.

StClairRaceFan 05-04-2012 01:24 PM

Never heard of that here in Michigan. He must go through lights like crazy. Hot lights and water don't mix. My friends and I have launched and taken boats out without waiting in line, but there is room at the launch and if you don't need a dock, just drive your trailer in and load and unload, no problem cutting. Never been *****ed at as we aren't cutting due to not tying a ramp up and are in and out faster than the people asking about your lights not being on.

I had to wait in line behind this guy to launch at a LA ramp to go fishing a few weeks ago! He didn't have his lights on so we should've gone around him.

Yea, I'd wait too.....................lights or no lights!..

Had to do a double take at your post, when you said a LA ramp, being a Cali guy I'm thinking "Los Angeles"
Don't see Gators at LA, CA ramps too much.

Bullhead 05-04-2012 03:54 PM

Never heard of it in Va or North Carolina.....my wife is also great with a trailer and is a tough chick...I am guessing she would have told him where to shove a light and get back in the fkn line

Oh yeah. Nothing better than a cantina next to a boat ramp to watch idiots wreck things and dudes yelling at their wives.

Mr Gadgets 05-06-2012 09:28 AM

I have to hand it to your wife, if she can back that trailer in, she is way ahead of my wife and many others!! Refreshing to see a woman handle a trailer (with or without her lights on) to help with the boating pleasure!! Kudos to her!! Oh yeah, Mich here, never heard of such a line of bs..
Thanks for the story!
Dick

Thanks for the Kudos Dick. Yea, it sure helps that she can back the trailer, as you say it adds to the boating pleasure if I'm not having to run back and forth parking and getting the truck.

As for the "Lights on" guy, still don't know where that is done, maybe he's from Mars.....hey wait a minute.....that's it, there is water on Mars! lol

Strip Poker 388 05-06-2012 03:53 PM

We never have a line at our ramp

If he did that to me he would be blocked in were he couldnt pull out of the water,Pop the hood make up engine trouble,ck my tire pressure

tunertech 05-06-2012 05:58 PM

I boat regularly at lake Havasu and have never heard of that before. That guy must have had too much to drink or something.

gofastlvr 05-07-2012 09:44 AM

TN here... better late than never and nope never heard of such crap, and I've fished in a bunch of tournaments over the years. I think this guy was just a tool that thought he was more important and he launches here all the time and all these foreigners need to step back!

blefever 05-07-2012 12:08 PM

Don't do it Tennessee.

MEANGREEN231 05-07-2012 04:02 PM

Havasu nativo here, and I never ever heard of that. He probably was a boater from the otherside of the lake, ya' know from the land of fruits and nuts!

US1 Fountain 05-10-2012 09:42 PM

Yep, in IN, it's state law. Look it up!

reason being, when you are at bottom of ramp, your headlights light up the ramp for the next guy trying to back down. Either that or it blinds him, I forget which. :)

Me thinks he was trying to pull one over on a female.
