No More Trouble at the Ramp

My new tow rig!
Actually this is my buddies shop, and this one is his personal vehicle, and there is no holding back.

The one in the back is for a certain police agency in FL. Watch out.

Wow!

Payton 05-13-2012 07:53 AM

That's pretty cool.

Jay Gadsby 05-13-2012 09:41 AM

Looks like one our ASVs all hooked up civilian style. That would get some attention at the ramps for sure lol.

Ok, I'll start with first question I get, bar none, "how fast does it go?". :)

My friend Johan needs to see this, and now he will.

Actually he doesn't know yet. It was built with a inline 6 cyl, he has converted it to a Cummins 5.9 liter w/Allison trans. It will be a beast. It will be loaded with all the stuff his others have and then some. It is truly a one-of-a-kind. Every single part is custom - down to the bolts.

A link to a video of a few of the vehicles he's done.

He's just a couple miles west of the ATL.

Is that made out of armor plate or mild steel (A36 or equiv.)? How much does it weigh?

BoatShow239 05-14-2012 07:09 PM

Maybe the beginning of the VW Fox

It is a Fox. Not to be confused with the VW FOx, but the origins are from Germany.

The more recent models are British and were powered by a Jag 6 cyl.

Has aluminum armour and weighs in around 14k #.

Had many versions, but the most common had a 30mm cannon and a 7.62mm gun.

It is 1968 LAV 100. This one was an Air Force Model originally. It hads been modified extensively already - no where near complete yet.

Original (when he got it)
The shop a few years back when I was in.
Just for fun.

Well it finally breathed life, and got out of the shop for a little while yesterday. It still has a few things to work on.

Thinking if everything goes right I may just use this for my tow vehicle when we go to Lanier.

dykstra 05-10-2013 12:00 PM

That thing is bad azz!!

You have already peaked Johns interest. He might as well bring it to Lanier. Maybe he could make a sale or two.

Somebody will ask sooner or later... what kind of gas mileage does it get? ;)
