I worked with Chris for almost a year getting the Skater back in shape.

Rest in peace Chris....

Chris played a big part in the purchase of my boat as well as the recent upgrade to the ILMOR Indy drives. Great guy, we had kept in touch since his departure from Skater, couldn't have been 3 weeks since we spoke last, said he was feeling much better!

Very sorry to hear, condolences to all!

Info from wife -Christopher Mornes' passing

This is Sherry, Christopher's wife.

I am posting under his 'spiderman' user name. Yes, he was the former GM of Douglas Marine for Skater Powerboats, and so much more.

Christopher passed Thursday, May 17. The exact cause has not yet been determined. It was quite a shock.

Chris was a Viet Nam combat veteran. There will be a memorial service, followed by an Honor Guard ceremony at the National Veteran's Cemetary in Sarasota, FL.
As soon as those details are known I will post them online or you can phone or text me for details.

If you think you would like to attend the celebration of Christopher's life, please let me know thru offshore only or

Phone: 941-928-1134.
Address: 515 Oak Hill Cir, Sarasota, FL 34232-1852.

Regards,
Sherry Smith

Sherry, My heartfelt condolences, go out to you and
your family. I met Chris, in Sep 2011, when I started my
first Skater. He quickly earned my respect, and turned
a 'customer - vendor' relationship, in to a friendship. We
ultimately worked on three boat projects together, the
last of which I presently own. After he left Skater, we
remained friends, and called each other regularly. He
had invitations for both you and him, to come down and
join me in boating, Ft Myers Offshore events, air shows,
or just stop in and say hello. We spoke quite often when
his Mom got very ill. More recently flying was the tropic
of discussion, and he seemed to really be enjoying that
activity. My thoughts and prayers, go out to you and
your family.
