Haven't really looked at newer ones . Are they still pos like the 80s & 90s when they earned their rep? Or have they cleaned up their act some ?

The company that owned them in the 80's "US MARINE" is gone. So is the cheap crap that they used to be. The funny thing is that they are no longer even the working man's everyone gets on the water boat anymore.

There are some cheap small entry level models but you should see some of them and their prices!

I have personally worked for a bayliner dealer and have been to their manufacturing facility. Pretty cool operation.

They even offer one model now that is kind of like Formula's Sunsport bowrider, but faster? Seen something that resembles a single step in the hull. Really funny to me!!!

I've got a old drag racing days buddy who decided to try out boating and picked up a used 2007 17' bowrider with the 4cyl and trailer for $7,500 with under 20hrs on it. Honestly, I like it. Went on a 40 mile cruise on $30 in fuel, it takes less than 5 minutes to wipe down when your done, a small SUV will tow it, seats 6 comfortably with a huge cooler, and it has a VERY shallow draft. It has its downsides (rough ride, slow, etc.) but its a well built dependable boat without all the hassle most of us go through with ours.

A very good friend of mine has a '98 Bayliner cruiser. Never had a single issue with it. Now those of us that have Fountains, Bajas, Regals, PQ and Cigs, not as fortunate. And he is doing so for a lot less $$.

No one in our group gives it a second thought on boat brand.

Saw a "how they do it" episode on them.....and a follow up "mega factories".....

They reported in the episode that they had the M O S T advanced manufacturing facility of all other boat makers. I chuckled at the notion....(Hecho in Mehico)

Then.......

They took the camera crew on a tour of the factory.

Chuckle time was over....

Try and find one of those episodes on the net....you will be amazed....

Their efficiency make them ultra cheap at retail. They use crap for hardware...but the hulls are within 1% of each other...
