The annual bridge to bridge boat race in Sydney Australia was run over the weekend. For those who have no idea what it is, it's a 110km race down the Hawksbury River. The race is usually reserved for smaller 21' displacement boats and piston powered hydro's. The river starts wide at the mouth where the start is but gets quite narrow from half way to the finish. Record for the race is 29min 49sec set by a hydro (think its a 130mph average). This year Maritimo entered its 47' offshore racer with twin modified merc 1075's (making roughly 1300hp now). After a hiccup at the first bend in the river where they spun the big girl out and nearly ended up the bank, they ree gathered to finish and win in a very quick time of 30min 24sec!

Very cool. Never seen that one before. They have another "Bridge to Bridge" over there where they are pulling skiers behind the boats. That one is on my bucket list.

Unbelievable.

Exact same course as ski race. The Upper Hawksbury Power Boat Club runs the boat race every year and the Ski racing Australia run a 1 up (1 skier as appossed to 2 in the normal bridge to bridge) on same day. The bridge to bridge ski race is run in November.
Maritimo running this year was a surprise to everyone, a lot of people doubted their ability to win or post a reputable time due to the tight winding river. As you can see they drove the a$$ of the big rig and without the spin may have nudged the record. I think everyone over here is as jaw dropped as you guys.

Watch the rooster tail drop when the thing starts to light off! Then pay attention how long that thing is at WFO!! Balls of steal in that boat. The audio is as good as the video.
