Anyone know the minimum planing speed of a 280. Was wondering if it is possible to tube behind one

I can plane my 260 at right around 22 mph with tabs burried. I am assuming with tabs and a smaller prop you could get a 280 up in the 20s..

We tried it behind ours, and it was a P.I.T.A. had to use a long rope, had to keep speed above 30, and the rope kept draggng in the water, since the hooks sit so close to the water line. The 280 isn't a water sports boat.

Thanks guys, been thinkin about upgrading to a 280 but I still want to take my son tubing.

On my 290SC, I can get down to about 18mph with tabs down (and I have a 5 blade prop). Combine that with a ski tow eye on the transom and it should be decent for towing. My boat was already reinforced for a tow eye...
