Could Bravo gears break from prop hitting something

I'm pretty sure I hit something while cruising. shortly there after there was a rough/violent vibration. I shut it down and got towed in. I noticed a small dent in the prop( bravo with a solid hub ). Is it possible that the gears could have broke and the prop only has a minor dent in one blade?

I Removed the drive and while rotating the drive shaft you can feel it skip a gear. This happens in forward and reverse.

Thanks.

Yes - it also can bend a prop shaft.

Absolutly, The tip of the prop has alot of leverage (on what is a pretty small gear) a good strike on the prop is magnified by the time it get to the gear, Leverage I guess is what I'm thinkin :)

Hell yes! turn it in to your ins if you have under water ins..they will cover it if your prop blade is bent....

Not sure if this helps but I have a similar situation. I hit a rock this past Saturday and took out the forward gear and apparently messed up the bearing case and stressed everything else. I'm staring at a $3,900 redo now..... :(

I'm calling my insurance company for underwater right now lol. Didn't even know it existed.
