Default 27 Compmillenia Cat build thread

Been extremely busy this year. Ive been away from powerboating for a while now, and have enjoyed some fishing on a few cc's...but they have been SLOW..LOL I'm bored and getting the itch again..need for speed, but in a different fashion. I am working with Jim Gardiner, known for building composit Egrets boats. He is back out of retirement, and its great working with him on this first build with him. His 22 is completed, and have a few orders. My 27 was run yesterday, and the results were amazing.... Im working on a 36 twin 557 or quad 350 boat with him next...

This first 27' cat boat was built for a Gulf program I am presently involved in with my other catamaran. 1200 hours of use per year was how this boat was designed, and over built. Its made up of a combination of resins, carbon fiber, kevlar, all resin infused, vac. bagged, and then into a oven. We weigh certain parts, document it, and then a piece of paper of results is emailed to the customer. Here are a few pics of the build..

the first pic is the 22 without hardtop, twin rows of forward facing seats..etc...we hand built off this model, using no wood for my 27 with some bottom changes with the help from Harry and Brownie...thanks guys, results were amazing, and mpg were close to 4mpg with just a pair of Merc 3.0 Mercs... Jeff

I put some on the hull truth....and I do not remember starting a thread here....boat is almost complete. Here are updated pics of her maiden voyage yesterday..much finish work is next...cap, carbon fiber hard top, seat material stuff like that. ...about another 12-1500 lbs is going into the boat. Last pic you can see the large step...same as whats on the Active Thunder's..Thanks to Harry and Brownie for helping out. Jeff

Ill be back that way the middle of the month for a while. I will say hello. We will be working on the finishing details and designing the carbon hardtop and windshield. Im extremely pleased with the numbers. There is presently not a boat in that size that is offering the same speeds, fuel economy, and amount of room in the CC class ....she would have been a real hotrod with a pair of 300's Verado's....Jim has a customer that is wanting a 27 like this for ska...should be interesting.
Im wanting a 35'x11' cat that does 100mph...he laughed at me...and then said when you want to start... Jeff

The hardtop is slightly oversized and we are working on making her Carbon Fiber, with the print showing through...the infloor hatches are that way and for a 4' hatch weigh 2.27 pounds...really getting into the technology stuff..we have weighing and documenting each piece..
