Rack $torage!?

This season they want $625 a month for in-out rack storage for our 42 Fountain.
Its not even inside storage...Chicago sucks for Offshore boats!
Not to mention thier price for gas at $2.69 per gallon of 89*
Also with trailer storage...big deal, sits in the mud under a bridge.
Most likely the highest cost for boating in the world.

bajadude 07-01-2002 11:31 AM

I guess I fell better, just paid $1.649 for 89. Plus we get a .18 per gallon rebate from the state every year for road tax rebate

CigDaze 07-01-2002 11:33 AM

Damn that sucks!

Sorry to hear it, at my marina, you'd be paying a little less than 400 bucks for indoor storage, unlimited in and out pulls and about $1.65 for 89 octane.

I pay 210.00 a month for my 25'er.

BillR 07-01-2002 11:37 AM

We pay 1.759 for 89 octane.

I wonder why they won't / don't put 87 octane at marinas?

Now our dry storage is $10.00 a foot. :( But it IS indoors and out of the weather.

You should go to Hammond Indiana for gas I don't knoew what 89 is but 92 octane is 2.08 a gal.

The marina where I keep my boat is going to be putting in 5 or 6 more lifts. $1500 for May thru October.
And you can come and go as you please.

Mark

Mark, I know where your at and its a bit too far for me.
Yes , I know about Hammond...Thanks!

PhantomChaos 07-01-2002 11:22 PM

I think it's $19/foot per month at the Lido Drystack in Newport Beach, CA. Not sure about gas.

MIdnightRider 07-01-2002 11:41 PM

Back 4 - Pocket Change and I both have our 42's at the Wharf there in Grand Haven. We pay $2700.00 from May to Oct 1, and then we store with anohter guy on our trailers for $1000. 00 in a heated and accesible area. The 93 gas is reasonable at the Wharf also @ 1.99. Come on over! Midnight:cool:

MIdnightRider 07-01-2002 11:42 PM

Inside Racks Also! Midnight:cool:

Indy 07-02-2002 07:01 AM

At my marina you'd be paying $475 for indoor storage. $1.89 for 93 (sorry, don't know about 87)

GregP 07-02-2002 07:39 AM

Gas is less here (under $2.00/gal for 92 octane last time I filled it), but I paid $20k for my dock and riprap and $50k to fix the retaining wall. $70k is a LOT of years of rack storage ;)

BillR - you forgot to mention the 5% discount for boatel members off the $1.75 plus the $.18 back from the state (Virginia) for boat fuel purchases. That brings our gas price down to $1.48 for 89 octane. Not bad all things considered:)

Back4More 07-03-2002 02:11 AM

MIdnight,
You dam right Im going to be riding across and hangin out where you don't get rapped for owning an Offshore boat.

mxz800 07-03-2002 08:53 AM

GregP where are you buying your gas at?? on the Magothy for that price?

Rob

GregP 07-03-2002 08:59 AM

Either Deep Creek restarant or the station at the entrace to deep creek. Price was $1.95 (give or take a nickel, my memory isn't that exact) last time I filled it about 2 weeks ago. Both have 92, but last time I stopped the Deep Creek restarant pump was broken. Magothy Marina farther up the river only has 89, but usually at a good price (I don't check often as I can't run on 89).

mxz800 07-03-2002 09:11 AM

thats really not a bad price since i trailer my boat i usually get it at the local corner station, but i was expecting much worse. Do you keep your boat on the Magothy??

Rob

GregP 07-04-2002 02:47 PM

I live on Mill Creek past Ferry Point. If your at Magothy Seafood and Tiki Bar, just idle down to the end of the creek and say hello. The Formula stays on a lift in the "back yard" ;)

mxz800 07-04-2002 11:47 PM

was out for a ride today and i must say..you ARE at the end of the creek:p i also saw a sight i could not believe.. a sail boat was there too:eek: would you like to explain this to me:D :D now that i know the boat i will keep an eye out for ya. do you have to play the tide game there or is the water plenty deep for ya.

Rob

GregP 07-05-2002 09:37 AM

You should have stopped to say hello. I heard a boat out there (not many come down this far), but by the time I got to the deck you (?) were already heading back. They dredged the creek last winter, so depth isn't much of a problem if you know where the channel is. Just DON'T go past the trawler two docks down, as I can run my canoe aground there. Where they stopped the dredging it instantly goes from 5' deep to less than 1'. Has caught a few peoply by suprise.

The sail boat is my father-in-laws. We had it out for a sail last week, and it can be a nice way to relax on the water too. Just grab a beer and an sandwich (or last time some BBQ ribs) and float around for a while.

Next time your down hang around a minute and I'll run down to say hello (if I'm not working, which this weekend I think I am).

WOW, I'm blown away by some of these prices.

I kept the Baja 272 in dry storage for two seasons for $1,680.00 per year. Unlimited usuage.

Now that we trailer the 36, I still go and buy gas from them. Last Saturday their gas price was 1.89 for 93 octane. They have brand new tanks, pumps, etc. and VERY good gas.

Because the owner of the dry storage is a performance boat guy, he only sells 93. His thoughts are if he prices his gas too high, people won't come out and enjoy their boats.
