GoPro Hd Hero Camers
Anybody using a GoPro on their high Speed Boats. Was wondering how they work and will they fly off at 100+mph.
|
Alot of people are using them and most use them with the suction mount. They have mounts that fit rub rails really well that are more of a screw/clamp on type. I believe the suction cup is good up to 200 mph on a plane but planes don't have constant swells like we do either.

I have had mine on at 100+mph in Havasu choppy waters (Memorial Day)! Oh, and I didnt have the lever on the suction cup completely secured :eekdrop:. I always have some sort of tether attached to it just in case, but I have little worry about the suction cup failing.

which kit are you buying? The outdoorsman?

I'd take a serious look at Drift Innovations before purchasing the GoPro. The GoPro is nice because of the wide angle, but that's as far as it goes. Its a PITA to operate the settings. You need to spend $100 to get a screen attachment just to see what you're shooting. When leaving inland to go out into the ocean or visa versa (basically any kind of temp difference) the case fogs up and there goes your footage. Also, once you put the LCD screen on, its pretty bulky. Ah, and on 1080P the battery life isn't that great. The Drift Innovations camera I bought is a world better. LCD screen on the camera, scratch resistant lens and waterproof. The lens rotates so you can get some pretty good angles. Has a plug in mic that you can attach to your engine bay. Reduced mic settings for less wind-noise. Nighttime settings and a remote to pause and start videoing. Just my $0.02.
