MERRIT ISLAND to WEST PALM BEACH FL
we are planning a trip from Merritt Island down to West Palm Beach all running in the intercoastal. We are on no schedule, will be boating for 4 days, and plan to stop at any nice sandy beaches, or Tiki bars we can find. Does anyone have any suggestions.
Also i am looking for some hotels on the water with docks, Im thinking one night we will stay in Staurt, Maybe one night Jupiter, any hotels or places we should see on our way? Dont need anything fancy for lodging, just a bed and shower. |
Sounds like an awesome trip. I'd chase you if I had more time.
Sebastian has several, really nice/colorful tiki bars on the water. Limiting factors are size of docks and lack of shelter for weather out of the east which almost daily. Staying on boats or hoteling it? Captain Hirams is probably mandatory and has the best protection. It's a tourist trap but the others are walking distance or a short cab ride. I know the area fairly well by boat and land and be glad to help if you need it. South of Sebastian there's not much until you get to Fort Pierce. It's inlet gets crazy on nice weekends and several close harbors there as well. Fort Pierce City Marina is class A all the way around. Two killer bar/restaurants dockside and a short walk to it's historic down town. Great place/area. From there not much until Jensen Beach. Next is Manatee pocket which has plenty of cool water front pubs w/dockage and is protected. |

If you go further south you can always stay at Sailfish Marina: http://www.sailfishmarina.com/ |
it looks like, in this order, after leaving Merritt Island our options are
1) Sebastian 2)Fort Pierce 3) Stuart 4) Jupiter 5) West Palm Beach I would need to pick 3 of those area's as our "over night" stops. However we can stop anywhere along the way for food or atsmospher. |
When are you going?

I nominate Jetty's restaurant by the Jupiter inlet for a great dinner. Haven't been there in awhile, but I hear they are still going strong.

Im having a hard time finding a hotel or place to stay with a dock. |
Here's some places I remember, just going by memory.
All directly on the water. Pirates Cove in Stuart. Looks real nice http://www.piratescoveresort.com/ Sailfish has rooms, check for dockage. It's a big fishing spot. Restaurant and bar http://www.sailfishmarina.com/ Great eats. Call them and they may be able to find a nearby hotel. http://www.riverhouserestaurant.com/index.html Fancy marina in Palm beach. Just a taxi cab away from some pretty plush accommodations. http://www.marinalife.com/reservatio...-palm-beach-fl |
Here's a couple..
