I couldn't speak accurately about how the drives held up in this particular situation, but as you correctly imply the rapid and repeated loading and unloading of drives—and in this photo they are quite unloaded—definitely takes it toll on them.

Great shot Sharkey! The drives held up just fine. We actually have the take off/landing sequence framed at the house.

Matt - Thanks for posting. The launch is definitely more fun than the re-entry!
