Why is the sound on my video so bad? I had another video with these same Go Pro's and it wasn't this bad, you could even here the "crackling" at idle. What do you think about the video overall?

How was the camera mounted to the boat? In the rear facing shot was it clamped to the rail?

I have found with my GoPro on my sand rail with it clamped to the frame using GoPro's roll bar mount it will pick up all kinds of strange sounds transferred through the frame. But not always, just depends where it's mounted. On top of the roll bar it was ok.

On the boat I use the stick on mounts and a arm off the side for my BBQ that I put a GoPro mount on. The sound on the boat is pretty good. Also a big difference with the open or closed back.

I heard a high pitch noise in the video, Is that what your refering too? I would guess its something to do with you program your using to edit/moditify the video. Looks good other then that. I used the closed one last weekend and mounted it on a gps thingy on the bow I had a lot of chatter, never do that again.

It definitely could have had something to do with the program you used to edit the video.

I've been using the windows live movie maker and previewed the footage with windows media player, both had that high pitch "crackling" noise. Yes, I did use the clamp "seat post" mount for the back and suction cup for the front but what's weird to me is I did this on a previous weekend at the local watering hole and the sound is 10x better. Not sure what's going on?

You put alot of time and effort into those videos, great job! What program are you using to edit your videos?

I just use Windows Live Movie Maker. It's the Movie edit program that comes with Windows 7.

So how was your camera mounted to the boat?

Sorry, I missed this post. It is strange that it worked ok the previous weekend, but I would bet it has to do with the mount. The shot out the back with the seat post mount to the rail would pick up all sorts strange noise just like on my buggy. Some spots were ok and other spots not so much.

Next trip clamp it to the rail and shoot video, leave the camera running and have someone remove it from the rail and just hand hold it shooting video. When you review the video at home that will tell you right away if it is the clamp, which is what I think it is based on my experience with the roll bar clamp.

Now for the suction cup mount, not so sure, but I would do the same test just to eliminate the mount as the problem.

I really don't think it has anything to do with the software your using or the way your are transferring video.
