Default Info on Mercury Sportmasters

Boy, I had posted this on another thread and it looks like it got deleted, so I will do it again.

The 2" short Sportmasters are currently in stock at Mercury (have been for a while), they are available in 1.26, 1.35 and 1.5 ratios (when used with an XR upper). We have some on the way and will try and keep them on the shelf.

The standard length version is about 2 weeks out. I don't have a part number on empty housings yet. The IMCO shortly is available as an empty however, and not a bad deal.

We have a pair of the 2" short going on a Cigarette Gladiator right now, should have results soon.

Most production boats are rigged with a pretty conservative X dimension so the chances are good that the short drive will be worth some speed. How much will depend on the boat, but 5 MPH on a 60 MPH has been pretty common using the short IMCO.

Do the new lowers bolt up to the XZ drives as well. What is the price for a pair with 1.36 gears?

Sonny, they will fit any of the Bravo's. We are selling the 2" short verision for $4900, the standard for $4700. Is 1.36 your current drive ratio?

We have not done any as of yet. I will see if I can get any feedback from Mercury. The skeg / gearcase deisgn is supposed to be worth a couple of MPH, and if your X dim is too low the short version can really wake it up.

The ratios that are published for these units are the overrall ration when used with an XR upper (19/16), so if using a XZ with 29/27 gears you would use the stock ratio lower (15/19).
