Can anyone ID this sea water pump?
So here is my issue:
-I have twin HP500EFI motors in a 38' Donzi. -the sea water pumps are not OEM...original owner doesn't recall who the manufacturer is. -I found that often I'd get a vapor lock after launching the boat. So I use the fresh water flush to prime the sea water pumps and then it seems I'm fine until the next time I launch. -this weekend, the priming trick worked, but after stopping for lunch, I lost prime and one engine overheated. -I had no garden hose to prime with so I used the one engine to get some speed up and then that seemed to push water into the overheated engine so I could then restart it. -no problems doing 50MPH but the engine would over heat again at near idle speeds. -today I pulled the sea water pump...see attached pics. -the impeller actually looks OK to me.... -when I pulled off the lower hose on the headers...the one near the inlet of the headers right beside the block, one of them had a bunch of black crap in it.....I thought that was the remains of the impeller at first until I then pulled the pump and it actually looks OK. Anyway, does anyone know who makes this pump? KPM maybe? http://i1269.photobucket.com/albums/...o/IMG_0774.jpg http://i1269.photobucket.com/albums/...o/IMG_0775.jpg http://i1269.photobucket.com/albums/...o/IMG_0777.jpg http://i1269.photobucket.com/albums/...o/IMG_0776.jpg http://i1269.photobucket.com/albums/...o/IMG_0778.jpg |
Not done looking...
...but I found one very similar and it is a Mercruiser raw water pump #GLM12093
|
I was thinking KPM but it doesn't seem to look like any of their current offerings....
The GLM12093 looks like a brass/cast pump....the ones I have are likely stainless steel. |
Looks like a KPM112 MilSpec you can get a rebuild kit from West Coast Offfshore up in BC 250-381-5900. Its just shy of a couple C notes.

Look about 1/2 way down this page...
...the one listed 112 Mil Spec to the left looks pretty close.
Crossbow33 appears to be right on the mark! http://www.kpm-marine.com/products_pumps.html |
Looking at the pictures i question if it is an impeller problem or the wear on the end plate. If the impeller does not have a flat surface to run on it will not create on suction and won't pull water. It looks like there is a brass disc with a gap worn around the edge, i would guess that is the problem area.

KPM, got some just like them, and they don't work either.
