Sailboat on mooring???? I've never sailed, but Figure it'd be a cool place to at least float & drink.
This way if the kicker motor breaks I can launch it in the harbor, hit up craigslist for a new one, and be boating again in less than an hour.

The go-fast boat has been a work-in-progress all spring and summer. Getting close though. In the meantime I have really come to appreciate our 29 Advantage X-flight. Has a 525, really good on gas, and you can stick 12 people in it and not even feel crowded.

My "backup" is my son's 1989 15' Boston Whaler Super Sport with a 4 cylinder 40 HP Merc outboard. We bought it and totally restored it 6 years ago. Although I could live without the teak seats (padding would be nice), the thing is just one sweet little boat and it goes through just about anything. And as my son will attest, the girls just love it.

...many boats I have of all states of completion. And no, none of them really are for sale. SO, I have no hidden agenda here!
I personally have gotten to where I enjoy the smaller the boat, the more I like it. Not to say I am going from here to Abaco in my Beck Boat, but it is a ball around the Harbour.
Actually, I know they are not popular, but for a back-up/weekend boat I like the Glastron. For the size they are sort of roomy. Stout, if I/O plenty of room arounnf engine bay. They are a little heavy weighted and lithargic feeling underway, makingway.
There are some models that are walk throughs which are not bow riders. From the cowl back they are very much like a bow rider, but once through the window, you go up on the deck. Usually the v-berths have a low ceiling.
Lines which made walk arounds are sort of the other direction of bowrider combination. Have a small cabin in from of the CC and a rather narrow walkway around the cabin.
Likely to get to where you have enough room you will be in the 27' range.
Hope this helps.

On the cruiser every week. Guess that makes the 'backup' boat the Fountain. So far haven't had to call it to duty this yr.

I don't consider them backups but I have a hydrostream HST with 2.5 260 that has never failed me and a STV euro that needs some tlc. If those fail me I have a zodiac with 4hp rude or if I'm feeling wild a 15hp zuki.

...sailing can be very addictive!
A decent 32' can be had fairly cheap and give you God's plenty of room!
