flat screen in boat??

looking to installing a flat screen in the cabin for the kids, I need about 19" with a built-in dvd player. Any body have any suggestions on brands, or ones that will take the abuse of being in a boat?? Thanks

I would steer away from the built in DVD player. With the abuse the tv will take in the boat, I don't think the DVD player will hold up. A separately mounted unit would probably be better suited. This way you can mount in a way so it can easily be replaced and also in a way to minimize shock... Must a thought....

I agree with the posts about no built in DVD. Here is Jensen......15" to 32" 12V TV.

My buddy has one in his mistress, it is fine, DVD is seperate though, I don't think a TV woulda lived in my 32 Baja though.. she didn't land as nice, probably depends on the boat itself..

thanks for the replys, I see those 12v tv are very pricey!! I do have shorepower and a xantrax inverter so ac is no problem away from the cord, i have been looking at a insignia from best buy with dvd player for 129 bucks.. these are pretty cheap, if the player won't hold up, maybe i'll get on without. They sell the same tv without the player for the same price...why not try the player, mainly want it when overniting or in calm water for the kids, won't use it when im hammerin on it..

If you can find a TV with a separate AC to DC convertor.....like a wall mount supply or inline supply, it very well might have a 12V DC input to the TV. I used a Visio in my Sunseeker project because it was like that.....and and OLED type HDTV too!

That's exactly what I did. It's held up fine.

Unless you have a Digital TV antenna and service for your boat you will only get TV reception at the dock, if it's available. This is a far better idea: http://www.carelectronicsworld.com/c.../adv10ps2.html

Here's what I'm looking at doing. The prices on the 12V TV's vary, but you can find them fairly cheap on Amazon, Ebay, etc... My thought's were to use a wall mount like this, so i can pull it down and cushion it while running.

I have one in NAS-T but I also have the dvd seperate! I have a 27" Nuvision wth a standalong dvd rubber mounted on the back side.
