Love our 31SS Sonic.
Tuesday we ran from Sturgeon Bay, Wi to Fayette, Mi. 2-3's and typical Green Bay 2 directional "seas" the whole way, 90 minutes there and 70 back, is roughly 60+ miles one way. Used a little under 3/4 tank on the 496HO's (3500rpm up, 4300rpm most of the way back once I was sure we had enough to make it). Couldn't be happier with rough water ride and fuel consumption! Took it easy on the way up, since I usually don't get too hung up on the fuel/dist or I'll start to figure out how much per minute/hour/month/summer LOL. The ride back was definitely more fun Left home after 9am, back by 4pm, awesome day/ride.
This would also fit your budget.
Had a chance to run in some 3-5's but just loafed along given the company on board, next time!

An early 2000's Sunsation Dominator can be found in your price range. An excellent boat.IMO
However, I too am partial to a 33ZX, but you're going to have to look hard to get a decent one under $70K
