I've never used the Lonseal product but if you're looking for an alternative look at the http://www.seadek.com/ product. We used it on the swim platform, it's been on for a year now, and I couldn't be happier. FYI it does not get hot when all the other vinyl on the boat is too hot to touch.

Had black Pirelli floor in my '85 Sonic and it is hot. Use to carry a bucket to dip water and splash on floor if barefoot.

Take at look at BLT's G-Floor products, lots of colors and they even have a Diamond Plate pattern in Metallic Silver. Many different roll sizes, even up to 10 feet by 60 feet.

I put this on my cockpit floor and love it. It has been in the boat for three years and no issues. Oil didn't even stain it.

We have a silver on our floor, not sure which version but the "coins" are about the size of a dime. Our cockpit carpet is a medium gray, which we hardly ever use. Took the boat on a 3 day trip and decided to run with the carpet this time. After the first day I pulled the carpet because it was to hot on bare feet. It really comes down to how light the product is for temperature comfort. I personally think the Lonoseal is much easier to live with and cleanup, just my opinion.

Just installed the Lonseal Mirage in charcoal gray and love it. It does get warm but no worse than my gray carpet.

I really like the Lonseal product from a durability and practicality perspective. I never liked the idea of carpet in a boat, and now that I've had to rip up a rotted floor, I'm not doing that again.

My wife did a temperature comparison using the Lonseal sample coupons out in the sun on our porch, and while Pearl and Yellow were clearly cooler to the touch, the stone gray was not as hot as some of the darker colors. She gave it her OK.

Looks like some great alternatives proposed by others...thanks for all the ideas...but I'm going to go ahead with plan A and use the Londeck material from GLS (link in my original post).

Special thanks to regalman4925 who put the exact same flooring from the same retailer in his boat with good results and only the occasional hot foot...and posted pics I could show the Mrs.

havent used that in a boat but have been around in other places and have had it around the home. Nice stuff but yes it gets got, but any sort of grease or oil on it, its an ice skatting rink.

Well, I guess I'ld rather have an ice skating rink than grease or oil on the carpet, what are you doing in your cockpit with grease and oil?:lolhit:

you shouldnt be, but drinks, food, etc, sun tan lotion etc. Ehh I just dont like the stuff in a boat.
