Old Pantera got new power over the weekend
:evilb:Motor is a Shaun Torrente racing built 250 EFI, Shaun says it has all the tricks except the stroker crank, heads cut for 89 rather then 93 so I can still run the 90 octane non ethanol all the marinas down here seem to be carrying. Should be close 300HP, hope to run it next weekend if all goes well, and a few parts I am waiting on come in. Cowlings are not installed just yet due to a little mishap in the bed of the truck on the way home from Miami where I picked it up.:evilb:

Just ordered $90 worth of bolts, screws, washers and a rigging tube adapter from BAM to finish the rigging, and will start the cowl repair tonight, hope to be prop testing next weekend:evilb:

Excellent. That should really wake that boat up. Did you have a 3.0 225 before??
Good luck and keep us posted. |
Nice motor, the 3.0 liter Merc is a great motor for mods.

Good luck and keep us posted. Boat has had 3 motors, originally had a 2.4 built that didnt last long and only got it to 50, next was a healthy 225 carb 3 litre that got me to mid 50's, next was the (very) used 250EFI, that on a perfect day would run the boat to 60, but consistently 55-57. Hoping with the fresh powerhead, and a few of Shauns Mod's to realistically run low 60's, touching 70 a time or 2 would be nice. |

Thanks Dave, It is an old boat and requires constant maintenance, but that could just have something to do with the way I run it:evilb: Funny thing is, I bought this motor from the same person I bought the boat from, Angel who you sold it to:lolhit: Did you ever see the transom/splashwell elimination work I did to it? Excellent.

Amazing machinist/fabricator/wizard. He runs a 6 second dragster that he built and has a new, I think 700 cu in motor for it. |
