offer 8000.00.... no trailer and the fact that banks wont do a loan on it are in your favor, must have cash, and cash talks...
if you get into it between 8-10,000 your doing good if it REALLY is clean... if it has not been redone at all, I will bet there is wet in it somewhere.. be careful...otherwise... good luck!!! check front bulkhead and gas tank bulkhead real well... |
I had a 86 also, but the new style round windshield and stand up bolsters. the bulk head infront of the motors and the bulkhead in the cabin need redoing, wasnt a horrible job, but still a JOB! By the way, I loved mine. IMO one of the greatest looking boats, the design still looks modern

basically subtract 10k for the square 'shield ls Vs. the slightly newer round 'shield SR1.
The SR1 basically looks like a modern day formula. The square shield boats look really dated. |

I checked all the bulkheads too they are solid, there is minimal softness around the holes and I can't push a narrow punch in anywhere more than a 1/4 inch or so and can't find anything soft anywhere for that matter (trust me, I know it's there somewhere too) God knows I wouldn't find the soft stuff until after I bought it anyway, no matter how much I search. This is a just bad timing or it would already be at my marina. Upholstery was all redone etc, this thing is gorgeous and shines like new, it was obviously taken care of. |
When I think of a 25+ yr. old twin engine boat, the first thing that pops into my mind is ......MONEY-PIT.
|
did the guy buy it out of Canada? There was a boat like that for sale 2 yrs ago in amherstburg -- looked really good -- and same colours as the pic. I was going to take it as a partial trade on my Apache -- then i was told it was full of water--- just a heads up-- don't know if it is the same boat but sure looks like it.

Boy some of you guys are hard, what are you gonna get for 10K? If and I mean if that boat is as nice as it sounds from the guy who looked at it its worth 10k, sure there are plenty of others in the 8k range but there probably junk also, the worst part is no bolsters which hurts the offshore appeal of this old wave crusher, ya the trailer would be nice but as stated he don't need one, IMO ya spend another 3-4k and get the more current 87-up model, who knows maybe you will spend less, but we have a guy in our boat club ripping up the river in the twin to this boat and it looks great everytime
|
This guy has owned it for 13 years, and it's certainly not rotted bad. Looks like I'm going to pass for now, but somebody should check it out, you'd be hard pressed to find a cleaner one, IMO it's worth the asking price to be honest I'd say it's a steal for anything below 10k...

glad to see someone else oogling that boat. i love my libby but i think that is a sweet looking ride. I like the newer looks and all the advantages of the new hulls but just like my cars i love the classics more. If i had the extra i would have it too and unload my libby.
