Advice? (Please) Purchase from Canada
Looking to purchase boat from Canada, what's my best options of making sure all goes well and no problems.
Any advice and suggestions from others who have done it? So are your suggestions don't do it or get a broker or ? Individuals boat, supposedly no loan.I understand there are no tiltles, so how do i get one in the states, what document gets you a title. Undestand there is custom taxes, duties, insurance bond an so on? Thanks |
I purchased a boat from O Canada.
Had the owner deliver it. Canada boat registration is strange half is in French. It should have some kind of paper work it just won't look like what we have in the USA. I had no trouble with DNR. Was the boat made in the USA ? If it was built in the USA no problem This guy would bring boats into the USA with no problem. I think it had to come over to get some work done and it stayed. It was a 27' Chris Craft. I think if you just show up at the boarder with a boat that you just purchased things could get sticky. Good luck |

If its Ontario maybe we know the owner. Call Peter at DoubleR and get him to help you. 1 705 487 7575 Good Folks Last thing you need is grief. |
I bought a boat from Canada - it had a title and I received a signed bill of sale - the most important thing - I took delivery on the U.S. side. If you take delivery in Canada, you may have to pay GST and PST - the law changed a couple of years ago and you no longer get it back when you leave the country. I would absolutely use a broker/freight forwarder.
