It would be real interesting to see him catch someones wake. I would be looking for cracks in the welds on that thing.

+1. I wonder how much the structure is beefed up for that kind of power. My parents realized the hard way that LOTO toons that run in the rough water get their share of damage. A welder down there makes a good living fixing them.

I still hate toons. All they do is clog up our local lake so no one can run on plane. I'd rather see that power on a nice deck boat if he needs that much seating space.

You need to stop running on ponds!!

It's beefed up. It's not Southbays first rodeo.

Brad is a super nice guy, he is not putting anyone at risk as he wouldn't be running at those speeds on a crowded lake, just like any high performance boat it needs to be tested and the owners of such love to get out and run them on occasion. By the way he also owns a Kevlar 38 Scarab that I believe is for sale. He will be running at the shootout again this year so good luck Brad crank it up! See ya on Shelby.

Would I be correct in assuming he can also lay claim to owning "the world's fastest front porch?"

The fun is on the Great Lakes for sure but I live across the street from Lake Oakland and it's always clogged up with toons idling around. Didn't used to be like that!!

The one that was for sale in Glen Carbon last year? If so, my wife tried talking me into buying it instead of our current boat when we were looking for a new family boat. It was a really nice toon.

He also pressurizes the pontoon logs a bit to keep them from collapsing.

Has anybody ever added lifting strakes to a tooner? I know Bennington has something of a set of strakes on some of their models, but it's almost more of an outside chine - on both sides of a tube.

The Southbay's have lifting strakes. Y'all would be surprised at how well these things handle chop. Not at 100 mph but running 35 - 40 they'll ride better than the same size v-bottom up to the point where the waves get big enough to break over the front. Then you have to slow down. My dad has a 27' Southbay with a 250 Yamaha SHO and we love it! 50 mph top end and easily cruises at 35 with 12 people on board.
