Kill switch not working
With all this lanyard talk. I decided to test mine today. I wear it but in 10 years never tested it. So when I pulled it only one engine died ! So what do I look for?? It's a bone stock 92 35 fountain carb 502

this would be a good idea for all of us to check ours , some twins have 2 but it can be done with one .

I have never driven a twin with one switch. But thats Me. Artie

My boat has one kill switch for 2 engines. It works. I've tested it by accident a few times at idle.

I'm going to look into it today I'll post what I find

Unless you have a two-pole switch, you will need one for each engine. They work by interrupting the power supply (purple wire) to the engine's ignition system.

Mine gets tested by accident often, I forget I am wearing it sometimes. I have 3 kill switches in my boat, and one engine, installed one for each front passenger when it was setup as a 3-man. I ALWAYS wear mine at speed, but leave it optional for the passengers.

I have one kill switch and twins. I also have one key and two push start buttons. i would geuss mine is hooked thru the single key

I'm curious to see what you come up with. I have a 1990 38 fountain with the factory mercury lanyard, and I accidentally walked away with the lanyard. Mine only killed one engine also.
On mine I had to bypass a neutral safety switch on one engine, and I'm wondering if maybe the factory merc lanyard works in relation to the nuetral switch. I just put the boat back in the water and have yet to test it, but when I do I'll share what I found. |
