That is backwards, seeing as they were there to admire loud, fast, high performance machines (airplanes)......

Great story !!! I am glad we did not go tho...wife would have gotten sick from all the rocking back and forth while anchored. And 2 yrs ago I had same issues trying to set anchor. At least I didn't have blo boaters yelling at me, just a bunch of people wondering how many times it would take before I got it set !!!! Too bad they left before you guys did. 5000 HP all firing up at once would have drowned out the jets for sure :)

Should have yelled back at them (bloboaters) to tighten all the lines to stop the metal clanking(pulleys against the mast and etc). That is freakin annoying, having to sit there and listen to that.

Love it!! My favorite sound on earth is raw American horsepower unmuffled! I only have a Bowrider with a 496 and thru hull and I get crap occasionally from blow boaters. That's when I rev it up!!:)

Great story. Wish I could have made it, unfortunately I was working. Plan on hitting the lake this weekend.

we did the math and technically sail boats exert far more sound energy. We powerboaters only give off finite amounts over short periods of time due to the fact that it takes far less time to get where were going. Sailboats on the other hand release sound energy endlessly, with rigging clanging in the wind 24/7 even while docked and not in use. I mean while my boat is in my dock . . . . not a peep. The three sailboats on the other side of the slip however continue to make noise without anyone on board. . . . . 24/7. . . . . I mean I dont leave my engines running while docked but they seem to . . . . I for one also take serious reservations with any person that would purchase a boat that requires the weather to be schitty for it to function. :picard1: :D
looks like a good place for this. :D |
