Prop help
 

I just put a brand new 454/330 in my 260 Stinger. It's a complete roller motor w/Holley 650, Stainless Marine 4" exhaust and a Bravo 1 outdrive. I understand the RPM range should be in the 4400-4600 range. I have three props 21, 23 & 25 pitch all three blade. What would be the proper prop to use. I think my 260 wieghs approx. 6000 lbs. The boat originally had twin SBC 350/260's in it and I converted it to a single BBC 454/330. Lost about 800 lbs in wieght and 260 Hp.
The 3 props I have are: Laser II 48/25P, Laser II 48/21P and a Quicksilver Mirage 48/23P. I hope this helps you help me...
I started with the Laser 25P and was disappointed. Then went to the Mirage 23P because of the bigger blades boat ran 42 mph @ 4400 rpm's. 120 gals of fuel and 4 people on board. On the prop calculator my prop slip was .32, which is probably robbing my speed. Would going to a 4 blade Bravo 1 decrease prop slip and increase my speed? Any help would be greatly appreciated... How far is the propshaft below the bottom of the boat? If it's around 5" or more I'd stick with a 3 blade.

The Lasers are going to have to small of a diameter and not enough blade area for your boat. Not sure why you would get over 30% slip with the Mirage. They will slip on some boats but 30% is pretty high. How far were you trimming?

I would think a Mirage Plus in the 21 area would be a good start unless your propshaft is too high.

Thanks for the reply, I'll have to check out the distance of the prop below the hull. Is the Mirage Plus that much different than a Mirage?

It's not a lot different. But, it does have more cup and bites the water better(also lifts the bow more). On my boat the Mirage is faster but slips pretty good in the mid-range to the point you can hear and feel it ventilating.
