Geico Columbus in Speedboats Ad
Well, I may never make it on to TV but my boat did!
She looks good as the Pinta! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=raPLzhzxAeU |
You would have thought old Christo would want to ride in the fast boat .... :)
|
pretty cool! :drink:
did they at least let you drive it? |
hey thats pretty cool Tom. How'd you manage that?
|
Hey!, I know that boat!! Looks good Tom.
|
I was asked by our NJPPC club president. The Formula is owned by one of our club members who is in the marketing business and that's pretty much how it happened. I'll tell you it was a LONG hot day for 20 seconds of footage!
At least the money made covered most of the damage costs! :angry-smiley-038: It does add to the boats already noteworthy history. It was used in Bad Boys II and was Michael Mann's (director) boat during the filming of the Miami Vice movie. |
...and I've partied on it. I'm also the Chief Navigation Software Updater for that boat! Congrats, Tom!
|
Saw that yesterday on TV and remember you mentioning the shoot couple months ago. Congrats !!

What kind of damaged occurred? Nice boat!
After the shoot, we put the boats on the trailer and inspected them for damage. Other than 8 hrs of baked on salt spray everything looked fine. I did have some problem centering it on the trailer when I loaded it and looking back it was probably because.... The following weekend I put it in the water, went to put it in drive and the one drives did nothing. We found a broken prop shaft and linkage issues. Fixed that, got it running and than an engine started overheating. (Oil cooler and lines were stuffed to the gills with eel grass.) So that is the story. They said they would pay for all damage but had to be notified within the first 48 after the shoot. I tried but got no responses. Chalk it up to good experience/bad experience. |
Any time we are lucky enough to see a Performance boat on TV in an advertisement, is great.
|
Love it!
|
Saw it tonight, didn't catch the whole thing but will keep an eye out for it!
