That is a Stern Power drive. Not sure if they are still in business or not. It's been a while since I dealt with them.

Not sure if they are still mfg. parts for the 107 or not, but I'm betting they can take care of you... If not I know of 2 complete drives.. Mine was like a 1.46 ratio if I remember correctly... Spun a pretty nice diameter cleaver as well... They run a 19 spline, and if memory serves me correctly, and please double check this, but I think they run the same hub size as the Merc. speedmaster III and IV... (not SSM3a, just the regular 3, the 3a has a larger shaft) Looks like you guys have some pretty good power in front of it.. Give them a shout & hopefully they can steer you where you need to go.. ;)

Is that boat a 25 Talon? Looks nice...

littledcsrodshop 09-06-2012 07:18 AM

Glad to help.. I can't speak for Eddie but I know he's always glad to help out as well.. ;)

The guy who has my old one is here on OSO as well under the screen name (Ironman).. I know he had some issues with a vertical shaft (I think it was the vert. shaft) at one time, so he may be worth a shout sometime if need be.. Chris is a great guy and I'm sure would be helpful sharing anything he's learned along the way.

Good looking boat, but if the engine pictured is what's in the boat that's not an 8-71 you have there... However if you wanna trade an 8-71 for that PSI then I can help you out.. haha.. That's a big azz huffer and much more blower than an 8-71...

bad86ss 09-06-2012 08:42 AM

I had Stern Powr MX-107 on my Sonic. Stout drive, at the time 8 years ago, parts were available. I think they were out of Maine. But it sounds like you got what you need. Boat looks good. Great things about those drives is that you needed no specialty tools to work on them. Pretty straight forward.

bad86ss 09-06-2012 11:25 AM

You guys have been a big help. Im gonna give him my username/password and teach him how forums work. He's already in love with this site

RebarBox 09-06-2012 11:34 AM

If he needs parts in the future - I was able to find all the parts I needed for my old stern powr at Marysville Marine in Marysville, MI., but that was 6+ years ago.

1100 HP thru a 107 is a LOT! If i remember correctly, i believe they were rated for 750 HP.

bad86ss 09-06-2012 05:41 PM

Ill let him know. What's a good outdrive for that power range?

bad86ss 09-16-2012 11:09 PM

hay guys, thanks again for all the help with the info i needed to find the parts to repair my lower unit,,,an for the 871 post my son posted, he never heard of a psi,,they are monsters, the boat has made some 134mph passes before we turned her down so she can live alittle longer, then the lower grearing went out,,,who knows. thanks again oso
