Image of the Week: The Perfectly Giant Raft-Up

Impressive lines of hardware, http://speedonthewater.com/in-the-ne...t-raft-up.html. As always, Jay Nichols does amazing work.

Now, those of you who were at the Lake Cumberland run: Try to find yourselves in the picture.

jayboat 09-10-2012 11:11 AM

Thanks Matt! and just from what I remember-
that view shows less than a quarter of the boats that were in the neighborhood.

It was an amazing sight- we looped around a couple of times,
so I got a number of different angles on the scene. :eekdrop:

I gotta hand it to the folks at Lake Cumberland, that was some world-class rafting. :ernaehrung004:

Awesome pic. This was still pretty early. Spotted us in the pic very easily at about 5:00. Mine is the white Checkmate with red center stripe that appears to rubbing noses with the end boat from the opposing line. Until they got more boats on their line, me and my buddy next to me in the white and purple Sunsation were constantly on watch to avoid hurt feelings and fiberglass rash.

That's a pretty cool pic...but I think this is still the ultimate raft-off.

We sure know how to party @ Cumberland, the pic from 3 years ago that shows the entire cove really puts just how many boats are there. :coolcowboy:

The other picture says it the Jackson river rally. It's not, it's the Jacksonville fire fighters poker run. On the st johns river.

Hard to argue with that. Lake of the Ozarks Shootout spectator fleet?

Will correct. Jay sent me the picture with the words "Jacksonville, 2011" and I filled in the rest.

Sorry for the confusion.

That year it was for the firefighters, but I was thinking the River Rally was the generic name for it. There is a different beneficiary now.

I don't doubt you, but I didn't say it was "the biggest." I called it "Perfectly Giant," which it is.

That Lake of the Ozarks raft-up will be tough to top, but I look forward to checking out your image!

All in fun Matt. Might be something to look into for next year. It is a giant event.

All in fun indeed, especially now that I've seen your pictures. Good lord, that thing is freakin' huge—it's like a floating city.

I'd heard of the goings on at Muscamoot, but I had no idea.

How many fenders do think are used in that flotilla?

Awesome. Just awesome.

Look up the world record for the longest tie up in Guinness and you will find the that the great lake Cumberland is it. Its the best lake by far in the Midwest by far! And now Somerset is wet so if your at Lee's Ford you can get beer at fish and ski. Harmon creek is like no other!!!

Sorry to burst your bubble but we still hold the Guinness World Record for largest raft up in 2010 and this isn't even Poker Run weekend @ Harmon.

I love the picture Jay! I wish the photo was taken on Saturday around 4pm because that's when the cove was the fullest. You could barely even get into the cove it was so full. What a great time!!

Might be a Guiness record but that looks to be a 2/3 of the boats we gather. We have tried to get recognized by Guiness but it is so difficult to get everyone registered. Looks awesome though. I love Cumberland!
