PT-109 found

Thought this was kind of a interesting story. I started searching out World War 2 stuff after my grandfather and I had a talk about it and I realized I knew just about nothing.

I heard it on the news a month ago but positive ID hadn't been confirmed.
WOW, that's cool.
National Geo. is producing a documentory on his find and it will air sometime later this year.

..there can't be a whole lot of the boat left??..they were pretty much all plywood, right?

Actually, I thought that there was quite a bit left. It was hard to make out anything from the pics they were showing this morning though...

The plywood was realy two 1/2 inch mahagony boards with a fiber mat glued between them.

And as we all know, mahogony doesn't rot!! Not even in salt water. At least not very fast anyway.

Foul,
Wood rots faster in Fresh water than it does in Salt. That's why timber is actually stored in salt water.
