when it comes to diesels the problem are small rpm band so in my opinion there is a hugh advantage of higher max rpm , you can use a smaller pitch propeller and get more acceleration , idle at not insane speeds... Lars can fill in here .
My boat idles at normal speeds 5mph or so. Spinning a smaller pitch prop negates the benefit of any extra HP or rpm, I want to spin a bigger prop not a smaller one, I don't understand your reasoning. Maybe it is more applicable to large diameter and high pitch (35+) cleaver style props like on a #6 drive, but for bravos it doesn't make sense. Also I am running a standard 1.5 gear ratio not some super low 1:1 or something. If the engine makes more power throughout the rev range I can go from a 26p to a 28p and gain more cruise speed and top end. My idle speed would be almost the same. But I would gain 10-11 mph top end big improvement! Top speeds at 4300 rpm 24p 56mph 26p 61mph 28p 66mph But in order to turn the 28 I need more power all the way through or else I will be lugging the motor in the midrange where I spend 99% of my time. If I am wrong please explain it to me I am always willing to learn. :) |
Sweet! We filled the notches on ours too (#6) made a big difference

Nice job guys. I like the custom exhaust/notch!

great video, and beautiful boat :D

I just want to know how the driver is able to push that boat at those speeds without any glasses on..... At 60 behind the windshield of my Velocity my eyes tear up so bad I am blinking once evey 2 seconds.......

My boy owns A 2003 36 spectre called Maximus Boat has a set of teague Whippled motors with Bravo XRs with all Teague shafts Stainless Bell Housings Its a sweet ride The acceleration is insane from 0- 120 I think it may pull harder than his 40 skater with 1100s. The spectres a clean boat for a great deal i cant believe it hasn't sold yet for that price.
