Trust me not a dumb question, Yes ,basically same motor, lowered comp from 12 to 9.5 and rpm from 7600 to 7000. Time will tell if the longetivity is there. First race is Key West with everybody. Fuel is going to be a touchy issue.

Tony,
What are you thinking the issue will be with fuel?

After talking to Sunoco, ethanol, winter blend of 93, and storage at different stations. Theres a recreation blend they make of 93 thats pretty consistent...I would personally mix aliitle leaded 110 20-30%...lose alittle power but not hurt anything.

I understand that. Maybe find some non ethanol fuel? I know they sell it around here at loto. But in maryland not so much.

Glad to see these new rules in place. It should make for some awesome racing!

Tony,

C9 is unleaded and has a MON of 92 and a R+M/2 of 96.

Is there going to be any fuel testing, so as to prevent p.o. Or any other fuel exciters from creeping into the mix?

byrideroffshore 09-27-2012 09:16 PM

Thanks coolerman , ill look into it tommorrow, bet it still isnt cheap... stainless, not sure whats going to be required thats why the research now before we get to kw... I hope these guys wont piss with that stuff, we need to get it off without too many hitches..

Chris we can accomodate your situation, easily. Call me .Your boat is a contenter and a safe one too.
Although race gas is not needed, we need to watch the stability of pump gas with ethanol very closely. Ive spoke to FST ( they make some of the best fuel filters)in florida, they claim we need to continously watch for water in fuel. They had same issue in Nascar.

Chris do you remember suggesting 530 cid for you in the past? Im sure everyone would assist to make this happen.
One to two rebuild a year and safe speeds (if theres such a thing) makes for some great racing, and then you have a "sellable" product if you like.

Dave thanks for the support, we have to do something. It was all the SUPERBOAT guys that pitched in on the decision, WHM,STIHL, and WARPAINT and of course Big John from SBI initiated it. You know me I cant stand racing one or two boats, drives me insane.

ps CHRIS , you can still make KW

Tony, the class hasn't even started yet and your changing the rules....this has been the problem with offshore.
Chris , I can sympathize with you... My boat started out being 11500lbs, we did everything we could to make it competitive, with this new engine change we had no choice other than to change boats... In the end it will be better for us and finally Superboat has a competitive class with all boats and engines matching up.... As soon as we start changing engines and weights... the class goes right down the toilet AGAIN !!!!

I just think, before we start changing the class, lets see how the existing rules work. This is getting expensive for all of us and I haven't even started a race yet.

Tony, if the rule changes to 530' s let me know, I'll bring 2 sets to KW
