Default Image of the Week, Part II: Piping Tribute in New York City

Another special moment from the SBI New York City race earlier this month, http://speedonthewater.com/in-the-ne...-new-york.html.

That is a great tribute and I agree "Never Forget"

On a side note this is from the article and I think it is TOTAL BS.
The tribute cost Semper Fi its first-place finish, as having the piper on board at the time reportedly violated SBI's rules.

Here is a team trying to go above and beyond to pay tribute, and in true Carbonell fashion he fines the guy for unsportsmanlike conduct and DQ's them.. Way to go JC, you are a true mentor to everyone in our sport..

I can't imagine how the SBI Volunteer Rescue Diver, 911 1st responder, bagpiper must have felt after he learned that paying a tribute to the 911 victims cost the team their 1st place finish.

I would be surprised if came back to volunteer for the races in the future.

Having been there, this was the "only tribute" I witnessed at the event .

Not sure why it gets promoted as "Racing in Memory of 911" ?

Perhaps a moment of silence was held at the Drivers meeting or something ???

The race course was no longer hot as I show boats were already released of their duty being as before I shot that image, I have a pleasure boat Outerlimits that came flying down the Hudson.

In conversation with an Insurer, I was told technically racers aren't even supposed to have their safety gear off until they return to the pit area. Now thats something I would say I never saw enforced ...

Regardless of the outcome, I want the bagpiper / Rescue Diver to know that many people on the Pier I was at really appreciated his tribute and knowing John Arruda, he couldn't care a less what place they gave him, he knew deep down he beat out Aqua Mania and lost on an error in judgement after the race was over....
