Foruno 1610 and not much. My dad has one in his boat , and I read the book and learned how to use it, but those things are compicated. What kind is it?

I bought a new Lowrance LMS-240 the other day but don't have a boat to install it yet. I should know how it works by the end of the month when the new boat comes in. I have read good reviews of the unit. It includes the new WAAS circuitry and antenna and can be flush mounted. 12 channel parallel GPS unit with 5" diagonal screen. Comes with built in "low detail" map of the world and "medium detail" map of the US. Uses Navionics MMC cards for more detailed local map. Everybody at West Marine seems to think very highly of them and they are apparently in short supply.

Oh yeah, it also features a 240 x 240 sonar for looking at fish and stuff on the bottom. Nice unit!

I have a Garmin 182 with the Internal antenna. Works great and no antenna to mount and clutter the boat. Mine is not the new color model but is easy to see in direct sunlight. It uses the Garmin Blue Charts. The screen has lots of custom set ups and you can get BIG MPH numbers.
