The bottom of my Checkmate 2800SX Outboard was speed coated years ago..looks like a white semi flat paint coating on top of the gelcoat..

Another note: Does anyone know how important it is for the sides of the strakes to be straight on the rear steps of the hull ?( front to rear )

if they are not straight they will cause drag, the edges of the outer ones might be out of the water but not the inner ones.
