..did I mention that did 185mph on Jet Set??....:p
|
Well the numbers started out strong and just got better.. First run of the day was an 18 Donzi @ 92 mph with a Blue Lightning Marine small block chevy hooked up to an Arneson Drive .:D
|
Golly!
...by any chance would that be you, GEOO??? :D
|
Yah, A little calmer then last year...She been clocked over 104 mph this spring up at Lake George; But alittle too many cross wakes to air her out.. I finally got some good water at the end of the shoot but I was already too much of an angle for the radar boat to get a decent speed. I took some On Board Cam shots, I'll post some when I have time. We missed you and WooHoo. http://www.donzi.net/photos/gdesmond05.jpg
GEOO |
I saw that video earlier this spring.
Don't bother posting it again - I can't bear to watch it again. The hair on the back of my neck is STILL standing up!!!!

I got there just in time to do some bench racing after the awards were handed out...:(
I had other obligations that needed tending to... I hope to be out there next year, even if it is to just put on a show...;) ;) :D :D :D |
Did anyone take any pics???
I went down to "watch" :( (i smoked a drive or else i would have ran). There were some bad boats down there to say the least! i saw alot of people with camera's taking pics and video's. Maybe someone will post for you guys who couldn't make it. |
That little Donzi was scary fast. Great way to start the day.

On a slightly different topic about the event. I was with Charlie Tesauro in his 28 Skater that won the outboard class. After the second run we went for a little cruise while some of the other boats were running. Another 28 Skater that was there came up alongside of us for a little "race" of our own. We slammed the sticks forward and took a commanding lead. We then backed off and continued our cruise when this other boat challenged us again. Once again we were the victors in dominating style and saw a top speed of 117 on the GPS! AWESOME RIDE! Upon returning to the docks one of the two individuals that were in the other boat came over to us and said,"we know you guys won and the champions of the day, but we want to go out into the falts and run again for the trophy." Charlie replied "why?, we won the shootout and beat you twice why do you want to run again?" He said "it's for the trophy". Charlie returned, "but we won the trophy". The other guys says, "yeah but we want it back". (they won it last year) Charlie, said "well I have nothing to gain and all to lose to run again just for the trophy, how about for a thousand bucks?" Funny we never heared from them again until just before we left and they asked once more to run for the trophy and the trophy only. Money talks, you know the rest...

Good story Shane !
I didn't make it down :( Just wondering, about 3 or 4 years ago there was a red cat with out boards maybe 30' long that blew over , does anybody remeber or know who it was . I just happened to be going by when it happened and was the first one there to help . Never did hear more about it . Just wondering . |
boot I remember seeing a 21 Skater w/ V-8 Johnson outboard on it maybe that many years ago. I saw the whole thing. He was already beyond the shoot and when he went to make the turn to come back up north, he never slowed enough and barrel rolled it. He was fine and the boat was towed back to the Waters Edge to the beach.
Shane I guess I got there too late to see ya's. Maybe next time..... |
Too Old...
You Bet...:p :D |
Sharkey,
Sorry we missed each other. I saw a Checkmate that looked like yours until I saw the guy drive it and I knew it DEFINITELY was NOT you! Anyway, HotBoat and I are brining his Scarab down for testing tomorrow to Typhoon. You gonna be around? |
Wow 185 what a trip

SHANE I'm on a 10-7 shift this week.....:( Sorry, but i won't be near the water at all this week.........:( :( :(
|
Sharkey,
That sucks. Have a good week and hopefully we can catch up soon. Shane:cool: |
Geoo , From that shot it looks like you need a bigger speedo !
Sharkey , that was probably the boat . I was actualy just starting to head south for a ride ,i saw it running and when I looked back again it was upside down just about to hit the water ! I was closest to him and already on plane so I spun around and went back .Just as we pulled up (first ones there ) we were about to dive in and he was just coming up for air ! Thank GOD ! He was under for a while ! |
Yeah Boot, There can be some big rollers down that way if you're not carefull. But that guy was from the area and should have really backed off before making such a turn... Was glad to see they saved the boat and he was alright.
I believe the Shootout has run incident free ever since??? |
Yes....fortunately it has been incident free since!
The gentleman who flipped the Skater - his name is Frank. After he flipped it, he swam back to it and climbed on top of it (while it was upside down) and started dancing on top of it with his hands in the air! The boy just ain't right! Then - he sold it to someone who was there and saw it flip over! he ain't right either! :D :D |
