Full Force, I remember that day. My wife and I went to the Casino and then to the Marblehead Marina for a stop before going back to MDI. A friend of mine was on the Goodtime when she turned around to go back to port. He said a lot of people were scared and screaming becouse they thought the boat was going to roll when they turnd around!! I still had the 26 PowerQuest on that trip.

Yea, probably not our best move, but we made it! LOL

Awesome stuff guys.

Thrillseeker, that was a spooky story. One of the best things the old timers taught be way back when was to get your boat to plane at the slowest speed possible and get it to plane as quick as possible.

When I bought my first 24' Sonic it wouldn't stay on plane bellow 30. In Lake Erie that meant it/we stayed at dock a lot! After a bunch of work and testing I got the same boat to stay on plane at 20.
95% of the trips that boat got away with did so because of that.

Full Force, thanks for the awesome pix's. Really tough to put it in perspective in pictures. I used to have some of guys surfing at the harbor at Leamington Ontario while weathered in.

To this day my best friend won't get on a go-fast type boat. I can see how a trip to the ER could do that to a non-boater. If the bleeding hadn't stopped or she'd have lost a tooth, we would have had to life flighted her out. I love playing on rough water days but there's some days where it just simply isn't a smart decision to leave the dock.

My parents and I took a trip when I was in H.S. in their cruiser (28' Carver) across Erie, up the river, across Lake St. Clair and up the river all the way to Port Huron. When we got to Lake St. Clair it was a rough day - just no storm. There was water coming OVER the top of the cruiser and it's a tall boat. I didn't ever not feel safe but it was rough as hell. The cabin was a WRECK with stuff all over when we finally docked.

Been on the lake in the nasty lots o times, to get into the harbor or down river you have to run threw the lake or take the cut, cut is narrow w/o much room for error, I always look at it as a time to play LOL, this year I came out around the break wall and actually for the first time since I was 10 yrs old got a little weary staring down a honest 15 ft wave, I honestly was unsure, pulled back and coasted up and over, this thing was huge, ya the wife was MF in me :lolhit: I'll live and tell that one for a long time,

are end of the lake is not as severe as the dunkirk~cleveland area this time due to winds coming the opposite way, but up on lake Ontario there saying 18-24, wish it was daylight I'd have to go see

Not exactly a war story but I enjoyed it. I did a boat trip to pib a few years ago met a few girls we had a great time they were leaving early on a Monday we ran into them at frostys they were taking the miller fairy so we conned them into staying at the bar for a while I offered a ride back fairy takes like an hour I can have you over in ten minutes I said. Well it was really rough and they were in a hurry. The girl in the bolster next to me couldn't keep her tits in her shirt every time we hit a wave they popped out so I just kept airing it out and she kept asking me what I was looking at. Good times

I definitely got some stories. But trust me today was a undescribeable ride back from the island.

The absolute worst was a trip back to Catawba from Detroit with Team Baja and XT Innovator, my 28 Cig, Dave's 29 Outlaw, and Ernie's 25 Outlaw. I filled up with fuel before leaving the Detroit River MISTAKE! We followed a freighter out into the lake and as soon as we split off in a different direction we found ourselves running in solid 8's. I could barely run on plane loaded with fuel and my cleavers kept blowing out, and the boat kept falling into DEEP holes.

About 40 min. into what ended up being a 3 hour trip I get a tap on the shoulder from my GF. Her best friend who had never been in an offshore boat was crumpled on the floor in the passenger bolster and there was blood all over the cockpit. She whacked her face on the passenger grab rail, split her lip wide open, and bled like a stuck pig for about 20 minutes. Needless to say it was a looong miserable ride home that involved a trip to the ER for one of my passengers.

Yup, that is one story I will never forget. I still remember you guys back at the casino telling this tale after just getting back!
