New Baja Boats?

Has anyone looked at the new Outlaw Series from Baja? I was just checking out various brands and I have to say that the new Baja's look terrible. I have another word for it but I think my post would then be deleted. The old outlaws looked good in my option, but these new boats have to be some of the ugliest boats I've seen. Then if the design itself wasn't a smack in the face the graphics are equally as bad- maybe worse. I'm curious if this is just my opinion or if you guys agree...

What the hell is "GT" is that the new BOSS package?

Like the new bolsters but the back seat headrest has to go. The old ones were nice the new ones are cheap looking.

motoboy 11-05-2012 07:26 AM

Looks like the used market prices for Baja just got a whole lot higher!

GT?? WTF is that?

endeavour32 11-05-2012 07:31 AM

Yes- That backseat headrest is terrible so is the wind fairing, and the skull graphics package made me laugh. Its like upper management let their 6 year old pick out the graphics. I also thought the GT theme was out of place. The new boats are just cheap looking and ugly. I really hope they don't take this approach to Donzi and Fountain.

Just watch I bet you will see a bunch of the skull graphics get sold on the 25’ “GT” models to every 25-30 year old that can afford a new boat. Damn ugly option!

Well that's probably the age of the computer guys that designed it. :lolhit:

Only a select few 25 year olds can drop 85K for a new Baja though?

TWIN-SPINS 11-05-2012 05:18 PM

go to the graphics,,click on painted,,,now thats more like it :evilb:

endeavour32 11-05-2012 05:24 PM

Yes the painted and standard look ok. The designtech are the worst things I've seen. I would be embarrassed to go for a ride in those boats let alone but one.

I agree with Arctic- not many 25 year olds have a spare $85,000 for a boat, financing or not.

JasonSmith 11-05-2012 07:53 PM

Wow. I hadn't been paying attention. Disappointing. I wonder if there will be an "Affliction" series?

rfgonzo 11-05-2012 08:02 PM

I have always thought that outlaw's looked good, no more not a fan of this GT series

Lol wish I could find the pictures. A guy had an "affliction" shirt copied words, dragon and all onto his 35 Baja here in south LA.

flying J 11-05-2012 08:21 PM

I just don't understand why they can't keep it simple. If you can't get it right leave it all white! At least that's respectable

offshorexcursion 11-05-2012 11:04 PM

Wow, I love my Current and past Baja's but the current lineup on the website is embarrasing to say the least.

I wish they had the old crew back!

offshorexcursion 11-05-2012 11:24 PM

Came up with this little skit while looking through the interior pictures of the 30' Outlaw. LMAO

Creeper W/ Hairy legs "Want to check out my cabin"
Hot Chick "Sure, must be nice since this is a GT model"

Creeper W/ Hairy legs "Glass of wine if you take your shirt off"
Hot Chick "Sure, let me just 'check in' on Facebook really quick"

Creeper W/ Hairy legs "Cheers! (she doesn't even know I roofied her wine)
Hot Chick "Cheers!"

Creeper W/ Hairy legs "Wow you look like a model"
Hot Chick "Thanks for the blanket because I'm getting Cold Feet"

That's why I said 6 year olds. My friends kid would love the skull boat, but he also loves plastic toys.

In all seriousness, Baja cannot afford to be making mistakes. Fountain was in the hole from what I read, over $50 million. Due to the fact that Reggie loved to use the company as a personal piggy bank. No matter what kind of deal Baja got there was still a tremendous amount of debt that needs to be taken care of. If your bread and butter brand takes a hit, which judging by everyones thoughts on the new boats, it will, this may be a short lived marriage between Baja, Fountain, Donzi and Proline. That or corners are going to be cut, in order to keep profits up like the late 80's/early 90's. A lot of good companies made crappy boats in that era.

I am 30 and I can say for 110% sure that I would not be caught dead owning a boat with a bunch of skulls or tribal crap all over it.

Most skulls I want to see on a boat is "Saddle Up" from Statment Marine.

1987pachanga22 11-06-2012 09:50 AM

I am in the same age range and you wouldn’t catch me ordering that but I know a bunch of people around that age that would.
Don’t get upset with me for saying the truth but if it makes you feel better I have also seen a couple of boats belonging to guys in there 40s with complete skull wraps on there boats.

I was looking at a 32 Black thunder in Des Moines, IA but couldn’t stomach the full skull wrap on the boat that that guy thought was the coolest thing in the world.

Funny I just browsed over that boat yeterday and thought how horrid the combination skulls and tribal was on that boat lol.

I actually like a very plain look and enjoy an all white boat with some small painted features that match the inside.

blefever 11-06-2012 10:09 AM

Take it off!

The best part about the wrap on that boat is that with a $19 heat gun you can pull it off and start over!

I agree.

Myself being in the market for a used boat I am sure that I will find some with scemes I just don't desire but everything elses is there.

Thankfully a life long friend of mine owns a wrap company and I can get the job done for cost of material and a night at the bar.

I really dont care about the graphics, thats something that can be changed,....what I did hear that bugs me is that they're going back to liner constuction:(

Thats what I thought- they're going to cheapen the line to help pay for the Fountain bailout. Not good for Baja fans!

AJ POWERPLAY 11-06-2012 07:20 PM

Man... Bunch of hate towards us 25-30 yr old guys :lolhit:
Being 26 myself, I suppose I'll sell the 33 and opt for a new skull graphic Baja! Thanks guys! :D

aquaholic58 11-06-2012 07:28 PM

The new bajas look terrible, I'm 26 and skulls don't tickle my fancy.

Wildman_grafix 11-06-2012 07:35 PM

Graphics can be changed but the rear seat head rest and those nice 70's style flat seat cushions in the cabin just say "quality" don't you think?

Terrible, I agree.

I thought the lack of detail on the outside was bad, the interior made me sick. I don't know if it was a cost issue, or lack of experience. A bunch of 18" long panels with screw pops all over them...looks novice to me, and horrible.

BajaFresh 11-06-2012 09:25 PM

Having owned three Baja's I must say I too am disappointed. I think I would prefer my old 29 Outlaw over a new 30 after seeing these.

I think this is a big mistake for Baja. I can't see anyone paying new boat prices for these when they could buy a, what seems to be much higher quality used boat for less.

I think they will lose sales to competitors and the used market.

That is awful looking. Did you see the Caprice in background with rims? You can tell he has good taste!
