Its hard to see in the video but you could see watching from shore, a ton of smoke starts pumping out of the starboard engine.

Something is hurt, No doubt.

yahoo 11-14-2012 10:51 AM

You see the smoke, what let go ?

Knot 4 Me 11-14-2012 10:53 AM

You can see smoke out of starboard engine against the white of the prop wash.

Gladhe8er 11-14-2012 11:09 AM

And this was a new engine they installed for the Sunday race, correct? Imagine getting 2 miles out of a new 1200 Merc? UGH...

Ah, I see it now...

That sucks... On a positive note, it was impressive watching the engine replacement on Sat. It took your team less time to replace the engine then it would for me to figure out the crane on the semi. Awesome set up guys, best of luck!

Anybody know what happened to it?

Not good it was really fogging out the starboard side... bummer - Jim

WHAT? Mercury's slogan is "The race never ends" Maybe so for the other guys... ;)

Bummer. Thanks for all that the GEICO crew does for offshore racing.

Scotty,
Any insight into why ya'll scattered 2 engines in 2 days? Just curious what went wrong.
Thanks
Eddie

FIXX 11-14-2012 05:43 PM

Most likely the next powerplants wont have all kinds of springs, lifters, valves, pushrods, pistons, rods, rockers, etc, so they should be ok :party-smiley-004:
