Mercury Truck, Where is the love?

Recently, While racing in KW we broke an xr upper. After a deal to get a new one delivered to us by a Miami guy fell through our friends and crew covered all corners of KW and beyond looking for anything that might work.
While I was not there, 2 friends went to Poker run village to take a shot with the Merc truck. I was surprised to hear that they basically got shooed out of the truck with little interest from the staff to help. How hard is it to make a phone call or maybe offer a "check with so and so"?
There were many people who DID take a few mins out of their busy day to try and help like Tony Canali of Team Kilt and, Joe from Shed's Plus who intro'd me to Randy Sweers from Fastboats, who even offered a drive off a boat he had for sale in the pits but it was a std bravo. Randy called Jon Tomlinson from TNT and Brian Forehand from Snowy River/ OL. Bob Teague said he'd give it some thought. AS always Will Smith of Phantom Boats burned up the phone lines looking as well, constantly checking back with me.
I even talked to a guy with a huge skater at a marina up the road who called "his guy". As well as the marina operator calling HIS guy. Brian Jackson of Offshore Outdrives offered to help but we didn't have enough time left for a rebuild to be done. We never got an upper. The irony is that if we had, we would have won the championship in our class as our compitition broke 300yrds into the last race. Oh WEll.
I get that the Poker Run market is huge and that Merc wants to sell to the masses, but where is the love for the little guy. Was that truck staffed with anyone who cares about more than selling a set of 1350's? I guess not.
I don't use much merc stuff, but unfortunately, the stuff I do use breaks the most. I guess it is what it is, You gotta pay to play. Happy Thanksgiving All.

That's a bummer about the Merc guys not helping out. That was cool that all of the other boaters seemed to do a good job of helping out, that's what I love about the boating community

Honestly Jonny, Its my first year in this gig and am not up on the list of who to call to beg borrow and steal in case of emergencies. Thanks though

Pat Sullivan

Mindi Doller

Marc Berman

Pat, Marc, and Mindi all keep full staffs and lots of parts in South Florida. They all have been known to chuck parts on a truck and send them down to Key West in a pinch. Add them to your rollodex for next time.

The folks on the truck were probably from the Midwest and Marketing; and probabky didnt know anymore about the 'locals' than you did.
