MERC 565 vs 525

Why call it an upgrade, the 525 has been one of mercs best performance engines and alot of them make nearly 565 hp. If u want more hp save your money and put a whipple on it and get nearly 800 hp reliably.

Yep. There are quite a few upgrades that the 565 hi -perf engine has over the 525.
We received a customer order for a 2013 Checkmate 26 Convincer with a 565 to be built here shortly.

C_Spray 12-05-2012 10:54 AM

How does the 565 compare to the 600Sci price-wise?

pstorti 12-05-2012 11:16 AM

Since the 525's are known to consistently dyno at 550+ hp I would want to see what a 565 actually puts out for power before I spent the money on an upgrade.

Sydwayz 12-05-2012 11:40 AM

The 565 will probably put the 525 and 600 "out of business" in the next season or so.

It is not just the horsepower as an upgrade, I was referring to the fly by wire and the smoother shifting from forward to reverse when docking, and a couple other goodies let alone the fuel efficiency.

Is there a detailed comparison of the 525, 565, and the 600

I just heard as well as $ diff, the 565 does not have option to upgrade from xr drive application to the nxt. Not sure why, but a buddy is pricing a cat and dealer said to go to 525 so he could order the nxts. Anyone know why?

I can't see the 525's disappearing for quite a while, especially w/ the price difference there is now.

$4500 more for 565 over 525

teaguecustommarine 12-12-2012 12:58 PM

You can not go wrong with a 525EFI! Whipple a 525EFI and you have a reliable 800HP engine!
