Nort,
I'm still learning this stuff, but to me there is a difference when I use lower resolution for the photos...For some reason, some of the detail gets lost whan I go to a lower resolution photo. Here's an example. I'll post a pic that is 28k filesize and then I'll post the same pic again that is 33k filesize, with a close up of the driver. Notice that with the higher resolution, you can see more detail, particularly in the facial area of the driver...:D:D:D This one is 28k filesize |

Since this thread started, it seems that OSO has changed the maximum picture size from 640x480 to a smaller 480x360. Even with this photo size limitation, you can still share visual topics with your OSO friends.
This photo is 360 high (but only 261 wide) |
Question

When I resize a 800x600 .jpg photo to a 480x360 size in MS Photo Editor, it screws the picture up when I post it.
What gives? Example below of phukked up 480x360 picture. |

"This photo is 360 high (but only 261 wide)" |
Billy!
That picture was from the 4th.
We did get rained on Saturday a couple of times, but not for too long. It was so damn hot, it didn't really bother me to get rained on. I hope to hang with you and Renee some more this summer, we had a ball too. We're heading back down August 16th through the 26th. Joe, (the previous owner of your boat), will be down there with us. Hope to see you there! |

If you all would like to know what the parameters are for pictures in all sections of the website, see the Faq's. We have to try to accomodate as many people as possible. We visited the site you referenced and only saw video clips that were 900kb. All the photos appeared to be 640x480 and less than 100,000bytes. Keep in mind it is not only the pixels, it is also the bytes that effect load time.
Depending on what pictures you are trying to post, that is what the Photo Gallery is there for. Avatar limits are 64x64 5,000bytes. In the future, when you have qustions please put them in the Questions, comments, and concerns section and we will respond as quiclky as possible. If you need help reducing pictures we can give detailed lessons as there are many very capable people on this that will be happy to assist. You can always e-mail them to OSO and we will do them for you. As far as the IMG code, there is no problem with turning that function on. OSO |
Thanx for the program. Heres my first attempt:

I figured out my MS Photo Editor.
I'll try this again. There is more to the story with me "outrunning" Mr. Profile. We were rolling at 35 mph or so, I waited for him to kick it. When he finally put the throttles down, he pulled four or five boat lengths out in front of me. That's when I nailed it. I blew past him and held him off by 6-8 boat lenghts for a good mile and a half. Hell, after 3/4 mile or so my boat is topped out at 6500. So I sat there and held him off, but it wasn't for long. I turned around to see where he was after we were out of good view for all of the audience, that was when he blew on past me. That boat is advertised to run 120. It must take him a couple of miles to get there. He has be turning one hell of a wheel, because the boat sure didn't accelerate hard. When we came back to float around and BS with the crowd, they were applauding because they thought I blew his doors off! I just out accelerated him for a bit! |
FlyinBrian~
I breifly looked at MS Photo editor this morning for you. I have never used the program, but I guess it comes free or bundled with some other stuff. Anyway, it looks like you got it. Just go the the "Image" menu and select "Resize". Change the "Units" box to pixels (not inches) the enter the size (either height or width) in the boxs, and BANG.......say OK, and re-save the photo with a new name to keep the original. Good luck! |
Nort... I love you man!!!
Need more, soon! |
I like an honest man
not that I'm gay or anything like that:D
When someone ask me how fast my boat is I tell them the GPS speed. Some say that's fast and some say is that all. Somedays ya win at the damn and somedays you loose. I would say you won that day. |

Thanks for the help!
I found more options under the "Save As". I had the resolution quality set at 4. So whenever I resized an image and saved it as something else, it automatically reduced the resoultion quality to 4. Which I am assuming is 4% of the quality of the original photo. That's it! Thanks again, Brian |
I don't get it, can't I post right from the IranView? I don't understand what script to type in?
|
FlyinBrian~
I would assume that "4" is 4%, but I would set it in the middle of the scale there (in the SaveAs menu). I tried that and got just about the same result you showed. Apache22~ I'm not usre what you mean by "script, but the IrfanView program is a utility to convert, modify or view photos in most popular formats. You can not "post" from the program, but convert and save, modify and save or other similar tasks. Tejas Raz~ What do you have in mind? :D :D :D :D :D |
Mike
I think I need a hug, wait, no, that IS gay!
I wouldn't have ran that guy if it wasn't for my brother-in-law talking me into it. I figured, "What the hell, somebody has to get beat" and I figured I was gonna be that guy. Anyway, I do the same thing with the GPS numbers. I don't have deep enough pockets to be the baddest, fastest, boat anyway. I accept the fact that there are boats out there faster. That doesn't mean I'm not saving up my pennies for a gently used set of 2000 model 2.5 280 offshore motors I am planning on buying this winter to go faster for next year. My goal is to go as fast as possible on a realistic budget and doing entirely everything myself. Those 280s should put me in the league of the "big dogs", but there is always someone faster! Maybe next July 4th I'll get him on the big end too! |
