Just wanted to share a few pictures from last weekends' Detroit Gold Cup Unlimited Hydroplane race- and a few of OSO member Steve David! Thanks Steve!
Great time, great weather, and the RoosterTail turn speaks for itself!;)

This years' winner (again:rolleyes: ) Miss Bud-
Steve was just a little short on power this year- maybe I'll just build up a special little T55 for 'em in the basement for next year!

Jafo,
Nice pics! Does Bud ever lose? They have definitely been the king of the hydro's.
Thanks for sharing.

Dan-
Miss Bud (or should I say Bernie Little) captured its 14th Gold Cup-it sure does seem like its their race!
The Cup Race is now in its 87th year, and is probably the most coveted of the trophies in boat racing.
The cheering from the crowd last year when Tubby's won the Cup was incredible (they are a locally owned Detroit sub and sandwich shop), and it was nice to see a new face in the winner's circle.

Sure would be nice to see Steve David get one- he's one stand-up guy, and a great asset to the sport!

Hope to see you on the water in the Chicago area soon- maybe for the air show?

I've been going to the Gold Cup races for years, but I've missed the past 3 or so - looks like I might have to put that in the schedule right now for 2003. The turbine hydros are cool, but nothing gets the blood pumping like an unmuffled Allison going by at full honk - you don't so much hear it as feel it resonating through your body.

Good chit!

Great Pics! I was right there in the Pit Stands area where those pictures were taken. It was awesome. :D
