Default Day visit to LA, Is a ferry to Catilina worth it

In Vegas for the week, thinking of a day trip to LA area tomorrow. ( Sunday)

Was thinking a beach board walk, Venice? Redondo?
Long Beach?
Was thinking maybe a Ferry ride out to Catilina for lunch. Worth it?

What do the locals think?

Not a local, but a helicopter buzz out to cat island is terrific, and will give you time to walk around. Best part of Cali IMO. Anytime I had free time in LA, helo or ferry to Catalina. If you go out there early, take the bus or Hummer H1 tour around the heights/inland buffalo of the island. Incredible vistas of the island.

Sunday is also the Christmas parade, it starts at 3PM: http://web.catalinachamber.com/CWT/E...px?eventid=683
