This is Lucky. Thanks Too Old for helping me to get this incorporated into a thread.

Lucky is 13 weeks old and I'm fostering her for Guide Dog Foundation. She will be a seeing eye dog for a blind person. I will have her for a year and then she'll be trained for 6 months before being paired with a blind person for 25 days of round-the-clock training.

Miller,

I hope she is feeling better! Absolutely ADORABLE!

Shane:cool:

She's definetly doing better today and right now, she's trying to figure out how to get the peanut butter out of one of her treats. But, everytime she gets a little of the stuff, she runs for the water bowl. It's pretty funny to watch her struggle with the Jif. The trainers told me that peanut butter is a good treat to use and that it will keep her occupied for hours. They seem to be right. I'll try to get a picture of it... :D

Fred .. We knew you were old ...but you need 2 giude dogs ? :D

Jana 07-17-2002 05:11 PM

She's ADORABLE! Way to go!

Miller 07-17-2002 05:50 PM

By the way, if anyone knows someone who could either use a seeing eye dog, or who would like to raise one, the organization is called the Guide Dog Foundation and they can be reached at 1-800-5-GUIDES.

Miller 07-17-2002 06:30 PM

T2x, that's all you've got to say? I would have expected some fo that famous wit...I guess you won't be able to borrow her! :D

How's the 28 Skater?

T2x 07-17-2002 06:32 PM

woof.....woof.....?

Turbojack 07-17-2002 06:43 PM

Man, I do not know if I could keep a dog for a year & then give it up. My wife would be a basket case for months after our time with dog was up.

Miller 07-17-2002 06:44 PM

Rich, I figure since you're always complaining that you're outdated a seeing eye dog would be the perfect accessory for you! :D

Seriously, got any pictures of you and Darren on the water in your Skater?

NASTY HABIT 07-17-2002 06:47 PM

Sorry Fred .....Rox told me to type that.....

T2 WHO ?? she also said to tell you Hey

Pantera1 07-17-2002 08:44 PM

Nice Pup

Not sure if I could give her up after the year.. I guess for a good cause ..Still would want to meet the blind person ..

Miller 07-17-2002 09:32 PM

After the blind person and Lucky finish the 25 day training as a team, there will be a dinner to celebrate. I'll be invited to that dinner to meet the person who will be getting her. I'm sure it will be an interesting dinner.

Beautiful dog! looks like mine when she was a pup-lab, right?

It's great to see some of members doing worthy causes.

Miller 07-17-2002 11:37 PM

Yes, she is a pure-bred black labrador retriever. Guide Dog Foundation does there own breeding to control traits and characteristics and I have to say that she is awesome, though a bit precocious and stubborn...or a lot like me! :D
