Mercury Scanner questions
Last week my engines went into guardian mode.
I was screwed until I was abe to get TNT so they could scan and clear the codes. I want to buy a Merc computer/scanner so i can have my guys scan and adjust the motors. There are several for sale on Ebay but im not sure which will work. Is there a specific model I need? Can they be updated? I asked one of the sellers that says he was a Mercury mechanic if his computer will work with 1075's. His response was "Whats 1075?" :lolhit: |
Call Rinda to get all info and buy direct. I purchased the Diacom laptop version for my 600SCI's and 300 Verado's

Agree with Diacom / Rinda. they are the cheapest priced plus very current with every marine EFI / MPI motor on the market including Ilmor. They can scan the very current catylist motors also. FYI they also can scan Merc Outboards. We use them with no problems and they have tech support if needed.
next is CDI MEDS they have a 6.0 dashboard version that works very well but they will not scan all motor brands nor the current Mercruiser Visteon controller / catylists motors. They are a tad behind on the very current systems but are trying to make head way. They are also twice as expensive compared to diacom / rinda. They both do a good job but IMO, CDI MEDS does a better job persay pinpointing a problem with a sensor/s and or code/s. They do very well with MEFI 1 thru 4 and ECM / PCM 555 Mercruiser / Mercury outboards. |
Gino I have the RINDAH unit that you can barrow to see if it works. I think it is totally up to date and I have a number of different harnesses. It is up in Maine and I won't be up there for 2 weeks but if you are not in a rush you are welcome to try it out and see. I use it for my Optimax outboard but it also does a ton of other stuff.

At Mercury pricing, they should just have a guy strapped to the back of your boat to catch these problems on the fly!:cool-smiley-011: |

Anyone with the Rinda laptop version know if it show data while cranking or does it have to run? Reason I ask is i'm working on a MEFI motor thats not wanting to start and the scan tool doesnt seem to help much unless its runs. Had to go old school and break out the injector diode, fuel pressure guage, etc etc
Thinking of upgrading to the laptop version as the scan tool seems pretty limited in functions. |

Thank you for the info! I never knew they were out there! Anyone know of a scanner that can help me read my wife? (I figured it was worth asking!) |
