If I remeber right, a 250 that had a tyler-crocket 630-572, running a 25 cleaver turning 5300 rpm radared at 81mph. Midnight:cool: There is a guy on the here who makes a windscreen.

Midnight, you wouldnt happen to know who makes those would you. My friends is cracked and he needs a new one. Do you know the price. Thanks

I have pondered the max hull speed thing myself. I have no clue how to determine such a thing other than when and if it gets too hairy to keep stable. Any info on determining max hull speed? The hull length is definately 25 ft. With the swim platform type measurement, it is 26ft 9in OAL. The boat and motor definately have room to go faster. I have only run it with a 25P mirage plus and I think the diameter is less than 15 inches. I'm guessing low 80's is where I'll end up based on how effortless it gets to 76-77 mph. I want to try a 27P Mirage Plus and a 26P Bravo I. Need to find'em first. Any other prop suggestions are welcome. I figure the boat weighs ~5400 pounds and it seems to like lots of bow lift. Hits 77-78 MPH @5450-5500 RPM through 1.5:1 Bravo OD with the 25P Mirage Plus. I'm also still on the stock tiller steering so I'm not real crazy about optimizing for top speed until I have the Hydraulic steering. I did inspect everything closely and things are still pretty tight. I'm thinking about dual ram hydraulic steering, but is that over kill? Any suggestions? Other than that it is a great working package. Really yanks at any speed and is friendly enough to take the kids tubing! It takes rough quite water nicely and feels pretty nimble at moderate speeds. So far, the Procharger has been awesome! The guy who did the heads spec.d the grind on the cam through Comp cams (with the blower in mind). I have the specs if anyone wants them. He builds drag and street car engines for a living and said that he figured 675-700hp at the crank. As Jon said, I didn't dyno it but I'm sure that it is pushing well over 600 HP. Especially since I picked up 17-18 MPH right off the bat! I have mentioned this in some other posts but I will reiterate that lots of people on this board helped with questions I had along the way and the end product would not have been close to what it is with out their help. His is a 89 and I think it's a 26 4 blade, I'll double check.

Nevrenuff....the dual ram at those speeds is NOT overkill. I would call a prop shop and ask what they think you should swing. Kevin@R&R Prop Shop in Henderson NV could answer a few questions for you. When you get the right wheel on there you should be flying. The dual rams would be at the top of my "to do list". Good luck and be safe.

Thanks for the input. Yeah I'm curbing the high speed stuff until I get the right equipment.....and consistent with my screen name, I'll take your advice and go for the dual ram! Going on vacation for a couple of weeks but not with the boat :( . I'll call Kevin at R&R when I get back. Thanks again! |
