Where to stay in Miami for the boat show?
I want to fly in from Lax Friday morning and stay till Wednesday or Thursday, me and my wife never been to Miami. Should we stay in South Beach or somewhere else since we will be staying after the show and want to do and see what? If we stay by the airport how much are cab rides going to be or should we stay in another city? I am hoping that I can get rooms for $200 a night? Frank

You will not find rooms in south beach for 200 a night, we just book the weekend of boat show and paid 450 a night and most hotels were booked. No slow down in the economy in South Beach

http://thebarcelonamiamibeach.com/rates.html But yea. Usually most rooms are around $400 a night and you dont get a lot at that price. |
Most rooms are already sold out. I managed to get a room at San Juan Hotel (which is at 16th and Collins) for around $160/ night. Not expecting it to be the nicest place, but its the perfect location and we won't be there but a few hours each night to sleep. Too much to do and see! Can't wait.

Some of the South beach art decos are really run down. Right now I think the Biscayne bay Mariott is the best deal, Its completely remodeled and the host show hotel. You can cab or bus to So Beach. Ive decided Loews is the best in So Beach.......But $$$$

Stay in south beach. The area by the airport will get you mugged. South beach is not cheap but you will have the most fun for Miami
|
You might try the best western on 21st. & collins . All i will say is it is WORST best western I have ever seen . But as stated there is nothing cheap about SB.
P.S. If you book a room make sure the parking is included . Nothing like paying 300 a night only to find out that does NOT include parking. Been there done that. |

There is nothing cheap about south beach,even the slum hotels are expensive and trust me they are total slums.. |
Anybody every stay at Park Central in SB?
|
Unless you are driving to Miami, I wouldn't worry about parking. No need to rent a car if you're going to be staying in the SB area. I plan on cabbing to and from airport and walking everywhere else as well as using the provided shuttles to the yacht show and in water show. My hotel is at 16th and Collins so only 2 min walk to the beach, 5 min to the boat show, and a few stumbles from all the bars lol.

Keys ?
Hotel employees that valet park the cars don't get keys nor do the people that do room service or carry luggage so I guess you guys are out ! I learned a valuable lesson today,don't try to give any good advice or positive input so it won't happen again and I'll be thinking about you guys when I'm enjoying numerous steak dinners at SHULAS and you guys(WRINK and PETE) are eating convention center food that costs the same as SHULAS.:evilb::evilb:

He can't make it,he didn't qualify for OBAMA'S "TICKETCARE" program.:lolhit::lolhit:

Look around some, the recession hit Miami harder than nearly anywhere and there must be some deals to be found.
