They are "wave cutters". They ride flat and cut through the waves instead jumping over them. Lends itself to a better ride and doesn't beat you up.

too bad they dont have any details

VSV (Very Slim Vehicle) .... http://www.multimarine.co.uk/VSV.html

cwfdive 01-21-2013 05:16 PM

This class of boat is called a VSV, short for Very Slender Vessel. The US and Britain have been built several of these for the SBS and the SEALS. They aren't all that fast, but are designed for efficiency and rough weather. Their wave piercing design reduces slamming loads on the craft and crew.

Here is a link to one of the first private VSVs:

Looks about 50/50, rough and wet.

That is the most rediculous boat I've ever seen! An open cockpit boat like that......you need a friggin snorkel when driving it, or at least goggles! ZERO use for the private sector. Look at that video around 4:30......no thanks.

+10!

I think it looks cool. It would be nice to see a conventional v bottom of the same size running next to it. I would bet this would have a much smoother ride then the standard v bottom design.
