Square Grouper Documentary
New documentary that's actually pretty good. Similar to the Cocaine Cowboys but specific to pot and all in Fla.
Three different segments in the one show. 1st is hilarious, 2nd will scare the bejesus out of you in regards to our governments power (if you believe any of what the dealers say) and the 3rd is really kind of sad. Good that the locals can now see the humor in it but still sad. One guy said a buddy called to warn him about the huge raid so he took a shower and got all cleaned up and went out on the front porch to wait on them  Said he watched the cops drive by his house over and over and never did stop. Best part is a local in the last segment telling the story about how Jimmy Buffets song "A pirate looks at 40" really tells their story. He's getting ready to sing that song and looks right at the camera and says, "he is a manatee loving son of a ***** but we do love this song". Reminds me of our visiting friends/family that don't under stand the local Crackers hatred of Buffett and his manatee Natzi's. Anyhow, well worth a couple of beers in front of the tube especially for you up in the cold. It was a free pay per view on Show Time for us. Hope, y'all enjoy it. :thankyouthankyou: |

I did a lot of fishing in the Keys in the 1980's. My guide said that if we ever even saw a floating bale, that we would turn away from it and get the hell out of there, no matter how good the fishing was. Turned out later that he was in the middle of it and spent a few years in jail! :eekdrop:

We stumbled on 1/2 our "on demand" channels by accident.
We do this: "On Demand to Premium Channels and from there you can pick from HBO, SHO etc, etc. Pick one of those and then chose "movies". " We always thought those were all pay per views and turns out it's part of the $100. per mnth we're getting raped for. The documentary was done in '2011 too so it's not an old one like Cocaine Cowboys. They show a sport fish boat builder that was involved and even showed a scale model of how/where they put it in the boats. They were also smart enough that they raised the water line on the boats so you couldn't tell as easy that it was over loaded and sitting lower in the water ;) |
anyone know when it will be on verizon fios

Too with dsparis story about his wifes cousin:lolhit: You might be an idiot if  I've posted this before that on one of our Keys trips I was reading an article in the local paper where two brothers were out fishing and found a floating bail that looked like coke. One brother was convinced it was and did a big ole line. It was not and killed him on the spot :helmet: |
My favorite part is when they unload the wrong boat ...
Mostly because I remember it happening more than once,LOL.. :D |

have to watch this one. was a dive guide in the bahamas back when. found one floating and had the tourists all taking pictures as we hauled it up on the dive platform. radioed it in on the way back and cops were waiting for us on the dock. flashed a badge and took it away. forty minutes later the uniforms show up and asked about it. gotta love the balls of the guys who showed up first.!!!

LOL.the cowboys had radios and we're waiting on the dive guys to bring their bale back and showed the badge to get it!!!
They say" scared money don't make money!!!" LOL Imagine all the like things that happened back in those days. I watched some movie about the guys who were young kids out of high school driving new magnumms in the early 80's running out through the s Florida flats to get some work 3-4-5am in the morning no less drunk, with the secret service guys patrolling as they were coming back in. Sounds unreal right. Stories that are told in America! |
That was a good documentary, i enjoyed that. Man them coptic guys were pulling some mega hits jeezsus lol
|
There was a fictional comedy movie call square grouper filmed in key west back in the mid 90's. I had a small roll in the movie I will see if I can get it on YouTube. Those of you if miler with key west will recognize a lot of the locals.

No doubt!

I am totally infatuated w/that part of Fla history down here and I make that fact known when in an area (or around certain people) that I suspect of being involved and have heard some amazing stories. The part in the last segment about the locals being able to lose the man back in the mangroves is real. They scare the pee out of me. Love exploring in them but they all look the same and would be so easy to get lost. :cartman: Just look at them from the air  That and running aground (as one local said in the movie). We hit one of our favorite spots in the Keys last time down w/the Sonic. Atlantic side, very narrow channel marked with 1" PVC pipe! Not painted either and does not tell you which side is deep! Been through there several times off plane w/zero issue. Last time in I watched a twin O/B center console similar size to our boat take off on plane. I watched where he went and then duplicated his route/speed when we left. We made it 1/2 way to deep water and then both of us spent an hr in the water pushing! Now, try that at night :cartman: |
